Puede causar un mal funcionamiento o un choque eléctrico. • No intente abrir el equipo. Puede ocasionar un mal funcionamiento y anular la garantía. • No exponga el equipo a temperaturas extremas. • El reemplazo de la batería sólo puede realizarlo personal capacitado. • Siempre utilice un paño suave y seco para limpiar el equipo. 1. CARACTERÍSTICAS La fuente ininterrumpida de energía (UPS, No-break) de 1000 VA, 500 W, protege sus equipos electrónicos contra variaciones de voltaje y le proporciona hasta 60 minutos de respaldo en caso de falla eléctrica. Tiene 2 jacks RJ11 para protección de línea telefónica, fax o módem, un puerto de comunicaciones RS-232 para monitorear su estado desde la PC y 6 contactos polarizados. 2. REQUISITOS MÍNIMOS DE SISTEMA • Puerto serial disponible • Procesador Pentium o superior • Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, XP 3 3. CONTROLES 1. Pantalla: Indica el estado del equipo. 2. Botón de encendido/apagado. 3. Interfaz para computadora: Permite conectar el equipo a una PC para realizar monitoreos. 4 4. Contactos polarizados. 5. Conectores telefónicos: Protegen la línea telefónica de las variaciones de voltaje. 6. Entrada para el cable de alimentación. 4. CARGA DE LA BATERÍA 1. Conecte el cable de alimentación a un tomacorriente. 2. Mantenga el equipo conectado por 8 horas para cargar la batería al 90%. 3. Una vez transcurrido este tiempo podrá comenzar a utilizar el equipo. No conecte ningún equipo en el UPS durante el tiempo de carga. 5. MENSAJES EN LA PANTALLA Normal: Indica que el equipo está conectado y funcionando correctamente. Battery: Después de una falla eléctrica, se enciende al activarse la batería de respaldo. Unusual: Indica que el equipo ha detectado una NORMAL BATTERY UNUSUAL FUNCTION DISPLAY POWER sobrecarga, un cortocircuito o el tiempo de la batería de respaldo está por agotarse. 5 6. INSTRUCCIONES 1. Conecte sus equipos en los contactos del No-break. Asegúrese de no sobrepasar la capacidad del equipo. 2. Inserte el cable de alimentación en un tomacorriente. 3. Presione el botón de encendido/apagado. 4. Encienda los equipos conectados al No-break. 5. El mensaje “Normal” debe encenderse en la pantalla. 6. Si ocurre una falla mientras el equipo esté funcionando, se encenderá en la pantalla el mensaje “Battery” y se escuchará una alarma. Tendrá hasta 60 minutos de respaldo. Cuando la energía se restablezca, la alarma dejará de sonar. 7. Cuando la batería esté a punto de descargarse, el mensaje “Unusual” se iluminará. Durante el modo de batería, cuando el voltaje descienda de los 21 V, el mensaje “Unusual” se encenderá antes de que el equipo se apague automáticamente. Si se presenta un cortocircuito o una sobrecarga durante el modo “Battery”, aparecerá en la pantalla el mensaje “Unusual” y se escuchará una alarma durante 30 segundos. 6 Después de este tiempo, el equipo se apagará automáticamente. Deberá desconectarlo y conectarlo de nuevo para que vuelva a funcionar correctamente. 7. INSTALACIÓN DEL SOFTWARE PARA MONITOREO 1. Inserte el disco de instalación de software en una unidad de CD-ROM. 2. Seleccione “Install” en el primer cuadro de diálogo. 3. Cuando comience, presione “Next” para continuar. 7 4. Introduzca su nombre de usuario, el nombre de la empresa en que trabaja (en su caso) y el código que viene en el empaque del disco. 5. Seleccione la ubicación y el idioma de instalación. Presione “Next” cada vez para continuar. 8 6. Al terminar, presione “Finish” y luego “Exit” para salir del programa de instalación. 8. COMO UTILIZAR EL SOFTWARE DE MONITOREO 1. Conecte el No-break a la computadora con un cable serial. 2. Encienda el No-break. 3. Busque la carpeta “Power Manager Lite” en el menú de Programas de Windows y seleccione PowerManagerLite. 4. En la pantalla se mostrará información acerca del funcionamiento del equipo. 9 Selección de UPS El software puede ser utilizado para supervisar el No-break local o remotamente. Si selecciona esta última (Remote UPS) aparecerá una ventana para configurar esta función. 1. Presione “Adicionar”. 2. Complete la información de los campos. 3. Seleccione el No-break remoto que desea monitorear. Ajuste de apagado Permite ejecutar y guardar de forma automática programas y archivos específicos antes de apagar el sistema. (El momento de apagado puede ajustarse de acuerdo al modo en que esté trabajando el No-break). 10 Mensaje de advertencia Selecciona el mensaje que aparecerá cuando el equipo realice alguna acción antes de apagarse. Sonido de advertencia Activa, desactiva y ajusta el intervalo de la advertencia que suena al detectarse una variación peligrosa de voltaje o agotarse la batería de respaldo. Llamada BIP Activa o desactiva la alarma que suena cuando el equipo falla, la batería está baja, el equipo se reinicia, etc. 11 Correo electrónico Activa o desactiva las notificaciones por correo electrónico. Para configurar esta opción tendrá que introducir la dirección SMTP, la dirección de envío, el usuario y contraseña. Estos datos son proporcionados por su proveedor de Internet y/o correo electrónico. Mensaje de advertencia SMS Activa o desactiva las notificaciones por mensajes SMS. Para que esta función opere correctamente, deberá contar con un módem GSM conectado a un puerto serial. Radiodifusión Activa o desactiva las advertencias a través de una red de radio. Si activa esta opción, los usuarios de la red local (LAN) podrán recibir advertencias mediante mensajes NT cuando la unidad falle, la batería esté baja o el equipo se reinicie. 12 Una vez configurados estos parámetros, presione “Reservar” para guardar los cambios. 9. PROBLEMAS Y SOLUCIONES PROBLEMA SOLUCIÓN • En la pantalla aparece el mensaje “Battery” aún y cuando ya se ha restablecido la energía eléctrica • Apague y encienda el equipo. • Cambie el fusible, podría estar quemado. • El equipo no enciende • Acuda a un centro de servicio autorizado. • Cuando el equipo está en uso, el protector de sobrecarga se activa y bloquea el equipo • Revise que los equipos conectados no sobrepasen la capacidad del No-break. • Revise que no exista un cortocircuito. 13 10. CONDICIONES 1.- Para hacer efectiva la garantía, presente esta póliza y el producto, en donde fue adquirido o en Electrónica Steren S.A. de C.V. 2.- Electrónica Steren S.A de C.V. se compromete a reparar el producto en caso de estar defectuoso sin ningún cargo al consumidor. Los gastos de transportación serán cubiertos por el proveedor. 3.- El tiempo de reparación en ningún caso será mayor a 30 días, contados a partir de la recepción del producto en cualquiera de los sitios donde pueda hacerse efectiva la garantía. 4.- El lugar donde puede adquirir partes, componentes, consumibles y accesorios, así como hacer válida esta garantía es en cualquiera de las direcciones mencionadas posteriormente. ESTA PÓLIZA NO SE HARÁ EFECTIVA EN LOS SIGUIENTES CASOS: 1.- Cuando el producto ha sido utilizado en condiciones distintas a las normales. 2.- Cuando el producto no ha sido operado de acuerdo con el instructivo de uso. 3.- Cuando el producto ha sido alterado o reparado por personal no autorizado por Electrónica Steren S.A. de C.V. El consumidor podrá solicitar que se haga efectiva la garantía ante la propia casa comercial donde adquirió el producto. Si la presente garantía se extraviara, el consumidor puede recurrir a su proveedor para que le expida otra póliza, previa presentación de la nota de compra o factura respectiva. This manual includes all the feature operations and troubleshooting necessary to install and operate your new Steren´s Uninterruptible Power Supply. Please check our website (www.steren.com) to obtain the latest version of the instruction manual. 2 IMPORTANT • Do not use or store this equipment in wet or damp places. It may cause malfunction or electric shock. • Do not attempt to open the device. You can cause a malfunction and void the warranty. • Do not expose the equipment to extreme temperatures. • Battery replacement may only be performed by trained personnel. • Always use a soft, dry cloth to clean the equipment. 1. HIGHLIGHTS The 1000 VA, 500 W uninterrupted power supply (UPS), protects your electronic equipment against power surges and gives you up to 60 minutes of backup in case of power failure. It has 2 RJ11 jacks for telephone fax or modem line protection, RS-232 communication port to monitor its status from the PC and 6 polarized contacts. 2. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS • Available serial port • Pentium processor or higher • Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, XP 3 3. CONTROLS 1. Display: indicates the device status. 2. On/Off button 3. CHARGING THE BATTERY 1. Connect the power cord to an electrical outlet. 2. Keep the equipment connected by 8 hours to charge the battery to 90%. 3. After this time may begin to operate the equipment. Do not connect any equipment into the UPS during the charging time. 5. SCREEN MESSAGES Normal: Indicates that the device is connected and operating properly. Battery: After a power failure, lights when the backup battery is active. Unusual: Indicates that the computer has NORMAL BATTERY UNUSUAL FUNCTION DISPLAY POWER detected an overload, short circuit or the charge of the backup battery is almost over. 5 6. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Plug your equipment into the UPS contacts. Make sure not to overload the capacity of the equipment. 2. Insert the power cord into an electrical outlet. 3. Press the on/off button. 4. Turn on the equipment connected to the ups. 5. The ‘Normal’ message should light up on the display. 6. If a failure occurs while the computer is running, it will light in the display the message “Battery” and an alarm will sound. You will have up to 60 minutes of backup. When power is restored, the alarm will stop sounding. 7. When the battery is about to be discharged, the message “Unusual” will illuminate. During battery mode, when the voltage falls below the 21 V, the “Unusual” message turns until the computer shuts off automatically. If a short circuit or an overload occurs during the “Battery” mode, “Unusual” will appear on the display and an alarm will sound for 30 seconds. 6 After this time, the device will switch off automatically. You must unplug it and connect it again to have it working properly again. 7. MONITORING SOFTWARE INSTALLATION 1. Insert the installation disc in a CD-ROM drive. 2. Select “Install” in the first dialog box. 3. When it begin, press “Next” to continue. 7 4. Enter your user name, the company name and the code that comes in the disc packaging. 5. Select the location and the installation language. Press “Next” each time to continue. 8 6. When finished, press “Finish” and then “Exit” to exit the installation program. 8. HOW TO USE THE MONITORING SOFTWARE 1. Connect the UPS to the computer with a serial cable. 2. Turn on the UPS. 3. Locate the “Power Manager Lite” folder in the Windows programs menu and select PowerManagerLite. 4. The screen will display information about the equipment operation. 9 UPS selection The software can be used to monitor the ups locally or remotely. If you select this last (Remote UPS) there will be a window to configure this feature. 1. Press “Add”. 2. Fill in the information fields. 3. Select the remote UPS that you want to monitor. Off setting Allows you to run and save specific files and programs before shutting down the system automatically. (The shutdown time can be adjusted according to the mode in which you are using your UPS). 10 Warning message Select the message to be displayed when the computer to perform some action before it turns off. Warning sound Activates, deactivates and adjusts the range of the warning that sounds when you detect a dangerous voltage variation or depleted battery backup. Call beep Activates or deactivates the alarm that sounds when the device fails, battery is low, the computer reboots, etc. 11 Email Enables or disables notifications by email. To configure this option, you will need to enter the SMTP address, mail address, the username and password. These data are provided by your Internet and/or e-mail provider. Warning SMS message Enables or disables notifications by SMS messages. For this function to operate correctly, you must have a GSM modem connected to a serial port. Broadcasting Enables or disables the warnings through a radio network. If you enable this option, users of local area network (LAN) may receive warnings by NT messages when the unit fails, the battery is low or your computer restarts. 12 When you have set these parameters, press “Save” to save your changes. 9. TROUBLESHOOTING TROUBLE SOLUTION • The display shows the message “Battery” even when already the electricity has been restored • Turn off and turn on the device. • Replace the fuse, it could be blown. • The device does not turn on • Go to an authorized service center. • When the device is in use, the overload protector is activated and locks the device • Check that connected equipment does not exceed the capacity of the ups. • Check that a short circuit is not there. 13 10. CONDITIONS 1. This warranty card with all the required information, invoice, product box or package, and product, must be presented when warranty service is required. 2. If the product is in the warranty time, the company will repair it free of charge. 3. The repairing time will not exceed 30 natural days, from the day the claim was received. 4.
