The paper consists of 2 sections.
Section A: Translation from Spanish into English.
Section B: Translation from English into Spanish.
You must complete both sections.
You are advised to spend approximately 15 minutes on Section A and 30 minutes on Section B.
Section A
Translation from Spanish into English.
El año pasado mis padres decidieron ir a una nueva ciudad,
así que tuvimos que cambiar de casa y yo tuve que cambiar
de colegio. Fue muy difícil, porque en mi colegio tenía muchos
amigos muy buenos.
Mi nueva ciudad se llama Valencia y ahora estoy bastante
contento aquí, porque hay mucho que hacer – hay unas
playas magníficas y muchos cines y restaurantes, por
ejemplo.
Para mí, lo más importante es ir a la playa – creo que es
importante estar sano y por eso nado mucho y juego al
voleibol con mis amigos todos los fines de semana. Por
ejemplo, el sábado pasado fui a una playa que se llama La
Malvarrosa y pasamos todo el día allí – nadamos en el mar,
tomamos el sol, jugamos al voleibol y comimos en un buen
restaurante a las dos de la tarde.
El año que viene yo voy a visitor a unos amigos que viven en
Madrid, que es la capital de España – es una ciudad muy
interesante, pero tiene una desventaja importante - ¡no hay
playa allí!
Section B
Translation from English into Spanish.
Hello. My name is Ana and I live in Antequera, in the south of
Spain. In Antequera it is very hot in the summer, and therefore,
we go to the coast in the holidays.
In Antequera there is a lot to do, so I don’t like to watch television
at home. However, my friends like to go to the cinema, so we are
going to watch a film at the cinema soon – I like Spanish films
and my favourite actor is called Javier Bardem.
I really like going to clothes shops – shopping is my passion!
When there is a party in my class, I go to a shop near my house
and I buy a new skirt or some shoes.
In Antequera we have lots of excellent restaurants – my favourite
restaurant is a small restaurant in the square – the food is
delicious and it is not very expensive.
Last year I visited a friend in England – we visited the coast and it
was really interesting to see a different culture. I love speaking
English and I want to study in England in the future.
