Fig 1. Fig 2. Fig 4. Fig 5. Ortiz [not angry, smiling]: “I hope you have enjoyed this night of boxing…it is kind of cool, kind of controversial, unfair to some” (2.04-2.12) “I would love a rematch because, you know, I fought Floyd and I apologize for that to Floyd in the ring, I apologize to for that after the fight as well”(2.19-2.29). [Haciendo una mueca para quitarle importancia] “It is you know, the heat of the moment”(2.30-2.33). “But ahhh…is one of those things where, you know, the ref was in the middle and [gesto más serio] he called break as well and he caught me after the ref called me…I guess to a sense 1 Imágenes tomadas de Postfight press Ortiz vs. Mayweather conference, Part 1. Rescatado de https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sPqu7FBllw 4 [mueca de duda] is a payback but [mueca de duda] uhhh, I agree and disagree. I’d like a rematch though, could be a nice one [de nuevo más animado]”(2.34-2.49). A la pregunta de qué pasó en el segundo golpe que le dio Mayweather, Ortiz dice : “The ref said something so I looked up [mirando como si fuera al árbitro] and I was like uh and then he called a break or something.Pretty sure he did though and the he just caught me and I was like ouhh, ouhh and then woke up like afters and I was like, ok, this is well done, hehe [sonriente, no enfadado] you know, it happens, part of the game”(3.27-3.49) A una pregunta en la que el comentarista dice “Joe Cortez [el árbitro] is saying that he said time in. Did you hear him say that? ” Ortiz: no , I actually didn’t hear that.He may have said that but whatever it was I just looked uo to Joe Cortez cause he is the ref…so I looked up and look back and boom, too late (4.34-4.42) A una pregunta: “can you explain why you embrace Floyd a second time in the center of the ring before the finish?” Ortiz: No, because he put his hand up [hacienda el gesto] so I was like ok I figure it is sportsmanship like but you know I spaced out so I apologize for that one (5.11-5.23). 5 Le preguntan about the heat of the moment [his head butting action] Ortiz: we were going for it, both of us. I don’t know, I guess I…casuse he was trying to put his kind of hand up and using this [marking action] shoulder and elbow so I was alright dude and I started to put my head in his face and sudden I was in a coming to throw and the moment I did that he came in [marking action] and I rub his face by accident but you know, still happens (6.25-6.48). A la pregunta “Did you hear Joe Cortez saying box? ” Ortiz: “I did not. I didn’t hear say box. It is a..boxer are always alert”(7.23-7.32). Al comentario de “You know a lot of people don’t agree with what you did but (…)there are also many people that is upset because what Floyd did to you”) Ortíz: “You know, it is a back and forth thing” (8.13). Y le preguntan: “How do you really feel about the whole situation? The public say you started it” Ortíz: “Yes I started but I got my point ticket anyway [mueca de descontento]I just feel like…tomorrow is another day”(8.30-8.40). Ortíz: “You know, at the end of the day everybody has an opinion but my opinion is that it wasn’t a fair play”(9.20-9.25). Le preguntan :”You thinks that the final sequence was that a legal sequence in your mind?”Entrenador: “Es illegal. Preguntan a Ortiz “Do you regret the decision having Joe Cortez as a referee?” Ortiz: No man [denying with a grimace] , no. Joe Cortez …he is he is a legendary ref (15.51-16.03). Le preguntan: “were you looking at Joe or were you looking at Floyd during that sequence?” Ortiz: At Joe. He said break or something uhh and then boom and I was like ok I guess it is time to play [smiling]. I was like hey you know, the bottom line is just fine, I’m just fine(17.20-17.37). Le preguntana Ortiz:”With the money aside, what do you think you deserve a rematch?” Ortiz: Because money isn’t anything you know, it is secondary (…) I think the public deserves a rematch honestly (18.20-18.35). Manager: “What Víctor did was wrong and we apologize for that [Using a serious tone]. It should have never happened, it did happened right and it was 7 wrong (…) We take responsibility for our actions ok and we paid the consequences. Plain simple and it it nothing we can do to turn back the clock. We need to start moving forward.”(19.20-19.36). Le dicen a Ortiz: “You seem unusually jovial for having just lost the world title” Ortiz: “I’m not getting excited or happy. I did my cry in the locker room (…) I’m not a cocky type of person, I’m not a guy who…not admit to my faults. Hey I made some mistakes tonight and I apologize to the public [serious and apologetic] but I definitively want the rematch” (21.35-22.24). Preguntan “One of the golden rules of boxing is to keep your hands up at all time” Ortiz: Yes Sir (22.34). Comentarista: “I think you are by now admit that was a mistake because this is something you would never do it again”Ortiz: Every fighting is a learning experience you know. It happens, what can I said. I got hit by a couple of butts that busted my mouth [Mayweather signaling his mouth] open in the inside and outside. I will get my mouth stitched up 2 Imágenes tomadas de Postfight press Ortiz vs. Mayweather conference, Part 2. Rescatado de https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBFGvpGNFeg 8 when I leave here .Ahhh, things happen , you know, shit happens in the sport of boxing but they let you learn, only the strongest survive [gesturing as saying, it is what it is] Just protect yourself at all times. I have done what I had to do. You guys, I told you I would not let you down, you wanted to see a knock out, that what I gave you”(2.15-2.34). Le preguntan: “Did you hear Joe Cortez say Fight?” Mayweather: “I was always told protect yourself at all time. I got hit with a head but I got hit with an elbow. I didn’t cry or complaint I’ve done what I had to do as a fighter. I didn’t say Oh my mouth is split open in the fight [touching his lips] ah in the inside so I was like keep it clean. Keep it clean. So we touched gloves [gesturing like justifying] it’s fightime. Once we touch gloves it’s fightime ”(6.10-6.35) “When you are in a fight, in such an intense fight, only fighters will understand this, you don’t hear everything but you know when they break us sometimes we hear but I…I just wanted to take..to do what I had to do” (6.42) [at 7.30, pressing his lip with the towel to conspicuously show his injure ] Le pregunta: “Did you see when Joe point…did you see any kind of indication?” Mayweather: ”We came together…we came together to fight. We came together, we 9 touched. It was fight time” [opening his arms like saying, what can I do?]
