The School Board recently a pproved free, all day, every day ki ndergarten a t both Fryel a nds and Salem Woods elementary s chools for the next school year. Frank Wagner El ementary has been offering all day, every day ki ndergarten for the past several years. We a re exci ted to expand that model to more s chools as the s tate moves to s upport this schedule known to give children greater s uccess in their first year of public s chool. Ba s ed on changing i nformation from the s tate, the School Board is now considering expanding tha t program even further by provi ding free, all day, every day ki ndergarten a t Maltby a nd Cha i n Lake elementary s chools so that all of our students can participate. They will make that deci sion i n Ma y. We understand s ome parents/guardians may have some concerns about their child being ready for a n a ll day, every da y program. Our s taff members a re committed to working with fa milies to develop a transition plan for a ny child. That plan could i nclude a temporary reduced s chedule a s well as other successful ways to ease the tra nsition. If this is your concern, please conta ct your child’s s chool principal. Ea ch elementary s chool is already planning a Ki ndergarten Readiness Night i n Ma y. You will recei ve more i nformation about this soon. In the past, families have found this evening to be a very us eful opportunity to gain more i nformation a nd receive a nswers to questions. We hope your s chedule will allow you to attend. For thos e families who have requested a transfer for their child to attend a s chool other than thei r neighborhood school, we will have decisions on those tra nsfers as quickly as possible as s oon as there is direction from the school board. It is our intent to have a ll decisions completed by Ma y 15. La Junta Directiva Escolar ha decidido ofrecer Ki nder gratis, todo el día, todos l os días, tanto en FRYELANDS y Sa lem Woods, para el año escolar 2015‐16. Fra nk Wagner El ementary ha estado ofreciendo durante todo el día, Ki nder todos los días durante l os últimos a ños. Ahora va mos a poder a mpliar eso a más escuelas como el Estado esta moviéndose en esa di rección para fi nanciar Kinder todo el día, todos l os días. Con ba se en el cambio de i nformación por parte del Es tado, la Junta Escolar está considerando proporcionar Ki nder gra tis, todo el día, todos l os días en Maltby y Cha i La ke, para que así todos nuestros estudiantes puedan participar. El los tomarán una decisión en s u próxima reunión. Entendemos que algunos padres / tutores pueden tener a lgunas preocupaciones acerca de s u hi jo está l isto para estar en un programa de todo el día. El distrito está comprometido a trabajar con l os padres / tutores para desarrollar un plan de tra nsición para su hijo s i es necesario que podría incluir un horario temporal reducido. Si esta es s u preocupación, por favor póngase en conta cto con el director de s u escuela. Ca da escuela primaria ya está planeando una noche de Preparación para el Ki nder en mayo.
