Design Alternative Ideas for Knoll Hill Will Be Presented At Second
Community Meeting
San Pedro-The Knoll Hill Conceptual Plan Project has moved into the
Design Alternatives Phase.
As the last remaining undeveloped waterfront hill in San Pedro, Knoll Hill is
an important site for the local community. The goal of the Knoll Hill
Conceptual Plan Project is to develop a plan for future development of
the site that reflects the needs and desires of the community. The Port of
Los Angeles has contracted with Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative
(LANI) to facilitate the development of a conceptual plan document for
Knoll Hill.
After a successful Community Visioning Phase, the Knoll Hill Conceptual
Plan Project is in the Design Alternatives Phase. Meléndrez Design Firm,
the team selected by the Project Steering Committee to develop the
conceptual plan, has developed preliminary design alternatives for the
site. The design alternatives are based on extensive research of Knoll Hill,
analysis of the existing conditions, feedback from the Project Steering
Committee, and community input from a visioning exercise at the wellattended kick-off community meeting on November 19, 2008 (ninety-six
community stakeholders attended).
Community stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide their
feedback about the project at the Second Community Meeting, part of a
series of three meetings, planned for the Knoll Hill Conceptual Plan
Project. The meeting will take place on February 3, 2009 from 6:00pm to
8:00pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel located at 601 S. Palos Verdes Street,
San Pedro, CA 90731.
All community members are welcome and encouraged to participate in
this important community project.
