nations like an overflowing torrent (Isaiah 66:10-14c).

66).
Second Reading — May I never boast except in the cross
of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14-18).

GOD IS CALLING YOU! A vocation – marriage,
priesthood, religious life, etc. - is a call to love and
every baptized person has one! But perhaps you’re
feeling a tug to give your heart to Jesus exclusively,
sitting at His feet like Mary Magdalene, or perhaps
you’ve wondered what life is like as a cloistered
nun? If you’re a single, Catholic woman between
the ages of 18-40 years, we invite you to spend a
day of discernment on July 16th with the Dominican
Contemplative Nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery in
Menlo Park, CA. Catch a glimpse of the same hidden life of love that has been lived at the heart of the
Church and the Dominican Order since St. Dominic
founded the first community of Dominican nuns in
1206. For more information or to reserve your spot,
contact Sister Joseph Marie, O.P., at [email protected], or visit our website at
www.nunsmenlo.org/vocation-discernment-event.
Space is limited and fills fast!
Dear Friends,

Happy Fourth of July! Despite our faults, we still live in the greatest country in
the world. May our beacon of light continue to be a sign of hope to the rest of
the world.

Father Juan Manuel Lopez became our part time associate as of last Friday. Father Juan Manuel comes to us from St. Anthony’s in Menlo Park. Along with
OLL, Father Juan Manuel will be the administrator of the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Tomales. Welcome Father Juan Manuel!

AAA update: We still need $16,480 to reach our goal of $135,000. To those of
you, who have already given thank you. To those who haven’t given, please
think about giving. This is your parish. Again, thanks for your continued generosity.

Just to let you know, we have a Parish Council that is more than a year old. It is
comprised of five members of your fellow parishioners and we met two times
this past year, once during the winter months and once during this past spring.
More about the Parish Council in future bulletins.

Per Pope Francis’ request during this Year of Mercy, we will be having 24
hours of Adoration beginning on Friday, July 15th, with the 9am Mass and ending on Saturday, July 16th, also with the 9am Mass. Please plan on spending
some time with the Lord during this graced period.
Happy, happy Fourth!
Father Brian
WILL YOU VISIT ONE
HOUR WITH JESUS?
Jesus showed His great love
for us by His crucifixion on
the cross to pay for our sins.
Can we not give Jesus an
hour of love and adoration in
return? Our Lady of Loretto
will have a 24 hour Eucharist
Adoration on July 15 beginning after the 9:00 a.m. Mass
on Friday and ending before
the Saturday morning 9:00
a.m. Mass. We need parishioners to sign up for a onehour commitment—
especially during the evening and overnight hours.
Please be generous with your time -through adoration we strengthen our personal relationship with
God and give witness to our belief that God is truly
dwelling with all of us. Sign up sheets will be at all
entrances. Thank you.
NOVENA TO OUR LADY
OF MT. CARMEL
The Discalced Carmelite Nuns cordially invite you
to attend their annual Novena to Our Lady of Mount
Carmel from July 8th to the 16th, at 7:30pm each
evening, in the Monastery Chapel.
This year’s Novena will be conducted by
Rev. Godfrey Chandya, OCD, the Parochial Vicar of
the Carmelite Parish of Santa Cruz in Tuscon,. Arizona. Father is from Uganda, and is one of the first
Carmelite Priests to be ordained for his Country. We
are also happy to have Father Godfrey with us for
this Novena, as he is an excellent homilist, with an
excellent knowledge of our Carmelite Spirituality
and Sacred Scripture. We hope you will join us for
these nine days of prayer and reflection.

PEACE
The greeting of peace at Mass adds substance to a message of today’s readings:
peace is relational. When we greet in peace
the person near us at Mass, we share the
touch of a handshake or embrace, sincere eye
contact, and friendly words.
The scriptures speak of a similar peace.
The first reading from Isaiah describes the
peace of the holy city, Jerusalem, a place of
prosperity and comfort where the “L
’s
power shall be known to his servants” (Isaiah
66:14c).
The Christian understanding of peace
changes slightly. Paul writes of the “peace
and mercy” on all who are created anew. Jesus describes a feeling of peace that will rest
on those who accept his disciples and their
message.
Peace is both an absence of strife and a
personal blessing. May we always and sincerely bring peace to our own lives as we
share it with others.
