The annual members meeting was held, as in
recent years, on the evening of the first day of
the Marmomacc fair in Verona, in Hotel Leon
D´Oro. As per the agenda Mr. Reiner Krugg of
the German Stone Association made a brief
report on how the sustainability criteria has
become part of the legislation in Germany on
using building materials in public sector
construction, that its obligatory use will
increase over time, and how EPD study is an
essential component of sustainability. Ms.

meeting on time, or come at all. It was decided
that in future the members meetings will be
held inside the fair installations itself in Verona
after the fair is over so as to avoid this

DATE BASE OF STONES

One idea that has come up is to create a data
base of different stones being quarried or used
by WONASA members by placing the
technical data of these materials on the
WONASA website. A key aspect is that the
technical data of the characteristics of
these stones must be certified by a
recognised company. The data base will
name the material, country where it is
quarried, give technical characteristics of the
stone, and will also name the certifying
agency. Since this effort is a mammoth task

of the industry each member can send the
data for maximum 5 stones.

Most Another idea that has come up from a
member is to explore joint participation of
WONASA members in some trade fairs so that
companies can be in an economical manner in
some markets. While individual members
would surely be keen to exhibit with their own
stands in major fairs, there are other markets
where a member may not be willing to spend
too much money but would like to have some
kind of presence. In these fairs, for example,
each participating member would have a
maximum of 4 sqm stand, with a simple table
and chairs. Opinions on this idea are welcome,
and members are also requested to
suggest which fairs could be interesting for
them in which they would be willing to be
part of a WONASA stand.
Otra idea sugerida por un socio es la de explorar
la participación conjunta de los miembros de
WONASA en algunas ferias para poder estar
presentes en ella de una manera más
económica. Aunque seguramente cada empresa
querrá estar presente de manera individual con
sus propios stands en las ferias más
importantes, hay otros mercados donde los
socios no quieran gastarse tanto dinero pero
quieran tener alguna presencia. En estas ferias,
cada miembro participante podría tener un stand
de un máximo de 4 metros cuadrados, por
ejemplo, simplemente con una mesa y sillas.
Serán bien recibidas todas las opiniones al
respecto, y también las sugerencias sobre qué
ferias podrían ser interesantes para
participar en ellas formando parte del stand
de WONASA.
