MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Friends,
Labor Day is the “unofficial” end of summer. Students and teachers begin returning to
school and the regular rhythm of the parish goes back to normal. As previously stated, our parish school
has now become an Academy- run by a board of directors. Of course, it remains Catholic and continues
to provide quality Catholic education to all our students. Next Sunday, we will have an Open House to
show off our new Academy as well as the gym – Neufeld Hall. Over the last 6 months almost 4 million
dollars has been invested into the building! Classrooms and offices are now fully air-conditioned. The
gym has been completely refurbished and looks beautiful! The building is not only used for St Bartholomew Catholic Academy, it’s also the place where we will educate almost 700 children in our Faith Formation Program. And….it’s also the place where the City of New York will run a full day universal Pre-K
program for members of our community.
I look forward to giving all of you a tour after the 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. masses next Sunday.
Please take the time to stop by! Of course, we will continue to register children for our Catholic Academy as well as our Faith Formation Program next week after all masses.

Queridos amigos,
Día del Trabajo es el ultimo dia "no oficial" del verano. Los estudiantes y los profesores
comienzan a regresar a la escuela y el ritmo regular de la parroquia se vuele a la normalidad.
Como se dijo anteriormente, nuestra escuela parroquial se ha convertido en un Academia- dirigido por
un consejo de administradores. Por supuesto, sigue siendo católica y continúa proporcionando una
educación católica de calidad a todos nuestros estudiantes. El próximo domingo tendremos una jornada
de apertura para mostrar nuestra nueva Academia, así como el gimnasio - Neufeld Hall.
Durante los últimos 6 meses casi 4 millones de dólares se han invertido en el edificio! Las aulas y
oficinas están ahora totalmente climatizado. El gimnasio ha sido completamente renovado y se ve
hermoso! El edificio no sólo se utiliza para la Academia Católica de San Bartolomé, si no que es también
el lugar donde vamos a educar a casi 700 niños en nuestro Programa de Formación en la Fe. Y …
es también el lugar donde la ciudad de Nueva York ejecutará un programa de Pre-K universal, de día
completo para los miembros de nuestra comunidad.
Espero poder dar a todos un “Tour” después de las misas de 10am y 11:30am el próximo
domingo. Por favor tómese el tiempo para Visitarla! Por supuesto, vamos a seguir registrado a los
niños de nuestra Academia Católica, así como en nuestro Programa de Formación en la Fe, la semana
siguiente después de todas las misas.

APARCAMIENTO: A partir del próximo domingo, 13 de septiembre el aparcamiento estará cerrado. Durante las últimas semanas varios coches han sido dañados con arañazos y golpes. El aparcamiento solo tiene espacio para 8 coches - la mayoría de los domingos hay 15 coches estacionados en el área pequeña. Además, es muy peligroso para
los peatones que caminan por la acera mientras que los coches están saliendo y entrando. Por la segurdad de las
personas y la de la propiedad ya no podemos permitir que aparquen en el aparcamiento para las misa del domingo.
PARKING LOT: Starting next Sunday, September 13 the parking lot will be closed. Over the last few weeks several
cars have been damaged with scratches and bumps. The lot only has space for 8 cars – most Sundays there are 15
cars squeezed in the small area. Also, it’s very dangerous to pedestrians walking on the sidewalk as cars are backing
out and coming in. For the safety of people and the security of property we can no longer allow
parking in the lot for Sunday mass.
WELCOME BACK
After
an
extensive
recuperation
from
surgery Fr Jack Replogle Sj has returned to assist us with
mass on the weekends. We are glad to have him back and
restored to good health.

Students and Faculty will attend mass next Sunday at 10
a.m. Following the mass all are welcome to attend the
“Open House” and have a tour of our facilities. You will receive information about the Academy and have a chance to
register your child while you are visiting the Academy Sunday. Registration continues for Saint Bartholomew Catholic
Academy. At this time we do not have space for kindergarten and first grade this September. We are excepting new
children for grades 2 to 7. Scholarships are available for
families who need them! Please call Dennis Mantilla at the

LINE DANCING AT ST BART’S: Did you know that we offer
Line Dancing here every Sunday in Heafey Hall (Ithaca St)
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.? It’s a wonderful opportunity to
socialize, learn new music and dance moves! Everyone is
welcome to attend. There’s a $5 donation asked at the door
– which also includes some delicious food.

BACK TO SCHOOL BLESSING
It’s that time of the year again! Our young people are returning to college,
high school and grammar school! We would like to take the time to bless
all of our students NEXT Sunday, September 13 at all the masses.
All teachers in the parish will also receive a blessing as well. We are very
proud of ALL of our young people as they begin a new academic year.
