TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — In a vision Isaiah is called to be a
messenger for the LORD of hosts. Isaiah responds,
“Send me!”(Isaiah 6:1-2a,3-8).
Psalm — In the sight of the angels I will sing your
praises, Lord (Psalm 138).
Second Reading — Paul reminds us of the gospel
he preached through which we are saved, if we believe it (1 Corinthians 15:11[3-8,11])
Gospel — Jesus directs Simon to take his boat into
deep water for a miraculous catch of fish. Simon and
his partners leave all to follow Jesus (Luke 5:1-11).

Fr. Tom
That we may eagerly respond, “Here I am,
Lord,” whenever we hear God call upon us to be His
hands, feet and voice here on earth. “Then I heard the
voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? Who
will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said, ‘send me!’” (Isaiah
6:8) Every day – in little ways and in big ways – God
asks, “Whom shall I send?” Whether it is someone to
take on a new ministry or just someone to open a door
for a stranger, God constantly provides doors of opportunity. The next time you hear God calling, have the
courage to walk through the door and say “Here I am,
Lord.” become less self-centered and more Godcentered.
Ash Wednesday’s Second Collection
Parish Social Ministry (PSM) comprises of

need in their parish community. Often times this involves providing food or clothing, financial support,
case management, or merely a safe organization to
turn to.

2015 Contribution
Statements
During the last few months,
our office has encountered
technical difficulties with
our computer system. We
have resolved most of the issues. Unfortunately, this has caused us to become quite
behind in the posting of our contributions.
Please know that we are working diligently
to get this task completed. As soon as we
get the Contribution Statements completed, we will make an announcement at
Mass, in the Bulletin and through One Call
Now. We will offer statements to be picked
up or emailed for those wishing not to wait
for them to be mailed. We appreciate your
patience and understanding while we work
to get this accomplished. Thank you!

Works of Mercy
" The works of mercy are charitable actions by
“
which we come to the aid of our neighbor in his
spiritual and bodily necessities."- Catechism of the
Catholic Church, 2447
Corporal Works of Mercy
Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Visit the sick
Visit the imprisoned
Bury the dead
Spiritual Works of Mercy
Admonish the sinner
Instruct the ignorant
Counsel the doubtful
Comfort the sorrowful
Bear wrongs patiently
Forgive all injuries
Pray for the living and the dead
The works of mercy give shape to the Church's
desire to bring mercy to the world as a response to
the mercy she has so freely and generously received
from Christ. Since the whole human person is the
subject of God's loving mercy, both body and soul,
the works of mercy are oriented towards both the
physical and spiritual necessities of the human
person.
In living the works of mercy, the Church shares in
God's action in the world, namely, the restoration,
protection and affirmation of the full dignity of the
person made in the image of God. For this reason
the works of mercy are patterned after the life of
Jesus Christ as he ministered to each human being,
body and soul, in order to restore him to fullness of
life.

'Y respondí: ¡Aquí me
tienes, mándame a mí!'" (Isaías 6:8) Cada día- en maneras
pequeñas y grandes - Dios nos pregunta, “¿A quién debo
enviar?”

A man wakes up after sleeping
under an ADVERTISED blanket
on an ADVERTISED mattress
and pulls off ADVERTISED pajamas
bathes in an ADVERTISED shower
shaves with an ADVERTISED razor
brushes his teeth
with ADVERTISED toothpaste
washes with ADVERTISED soap
puts on ADVERTISED clothes
drinks a cup
of ADVERTISED coffee
drives to work

and then . . . .
refuses to ADVERTISE
believing it doesn’t pay.
Later if business is poor
