LNG as Fuel Industry
Challenges: Difficulties in…
•
Have an Accreditation Procedure and Standard to the Gas Supplier.
•
Different Ship Types required different Bunkering location.
•
Different Bunkering location requires a variety of Bunkering solutions and flexibility on
Bunker Tanker (connections, freeboard, mooring,…).
•
Time to bunker gas cannot exceed time to bunker fuel oil.
•
Custody Transfer System for when there is vapour return.
•
Too prescriptive requirements from Port Authorities may constraint gas fuelled ships traffic
into Port.

Supporting Ports
•
Portsmouth International Port (2014): Detailed guidance for technical specifications of bunkering
equipment and operational procedures to help ensure that port safety and emergency planning is
provided and that personnel competence can be developed effectively.
•
Singapore International Port (March 2013): Development of a comprehensive manual on STS LNG
bunkering procedures which establishes a step-by-step methodology encompassing all phases of
operations, fuel quality verification, safety Check Lists and Emergency Response.
•
Taiwanese Ports (ongoing): Review and feasibility study on the application of a small LNG FSRU for
Taiwanese ports.
EU Projects
•
Poseidon Med Project (ongoing): Aims the development of global infrastructure hubs for the supply
