Dear Parents of Year 3 Liceo Students,
As you are already aware, all 3rd year students will take several IGCSE (International General
Certificate of Secondary Education) University of Cambridge examinations at the end of the
current school year.
The IGCSE provides students with an excellent knowledge base and preparation for the IB
courses, as well as for other examinations. They also help the School to identify individual
academic strengths and weaknesses in our student body, and to compare its IGCSE results with
the rest of the world.
IGCSE trophies are presented to the candidate with the best overall results and also to the
candidates who obtain the best result in each subject. Please encourage your child to follow the
philosophy of the IGCSE and aim for excellence in these exams, as they are used as a global
benchmark.
During recent years all of the students who had been taking the Portuguese course since they
entered 1st year Liceo were entered for the corresponding IGCSE examination, and their results
were very good. They then went on to be entered for several more IGCSE examinations at the
end of the year. This situation occurs because Cambridge does not offer an examination of
Portuguese in the November session.
This year your son/daughter will be following a similar pattern. Portuguese in May, followed by
some other examinations in November, and the remaining exams in November 2016.
The entry fee is U$S 73.00 per subject. The School will send you the corresponding invoice
shortly, which will be due by the 27th of March.
Please note that the money collected for these exams will be sent directly to the Cambridge
International Examinations office. The School is only acting as a link between Cambridge and
the students.

Estimados Padres de Alumnos de 3er año de Liceo,
Como es de vuestro conocimiento, todos los alumnos de 3er año de Liceo rendirán exámenes de
IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) de la Universidad de
Cambridge, a fines del presente año.
El IGCSE brinda una excelente preparación a los alumnos, tanto para los cursos de IB como para
otros exámenes. Asimismo, permite al Colegio identificar fortalezas y debilidades académicas de
forma individual en cada alumno y comparar los resultados de IGCSE con los del resto del
mundo.
Todos los años se entregan trofeos de IGCSE al candidato con el mejor resultado global y
también a los que hayan obtenido el mejor resultado en cada asignatura. Les solicitamos que
alienten a sus hijos a seguir la filosofía de IGCSE y tener como meta la excelencia en estos
exámenes, que son un punto de referencia mundial.
En los últimos años todos los alumnos que tomaron el curso de Portugués desde su ingreso a 1er
año de Liceo rindieron el correspondiente examen de IGCSE y sus resultados fueron muy
buenos. Luego fueron inscriptos para rendir varios exámenes más de IGCSE a fin de año. Esta
situación se da debido a que Cambridge no ofrece exámenes de Portugués en el periodo de
noviembre.
Este año, su hijo/hija seguirá el mismo patrón, rindiendo el examen de Portugués en mayo,
seguido de otros exámenes en noviembre de 2015 y los restantes en noviembre de 2016.
El costo de inscripción es de U$S 73.00 por materia. En los próximos días recibirán la factura
correspondiente, cuya fecha de vencimiento será el 27 de marzo.
El dinero recaudado por la cobranza de estos exámenes se enviará directamente a la oficina de
‘Cambridge International Examinations’. El Colegio sólo opera en calidad de nexo entre
Cambridge y los alumnos.
