VISITA DEL SECRETARIO DE COMERCIO ESPAÑOL A QATAR
SPANISH SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRADE VISITED QATAR
El domingo 16 de febrero disfrutamos de la visita de una delegación comercial española, presidida
por el Secretario de Estado de Comercio de España D. Jaime García-Legaz Ponce,
y acompañado
por el Presidente del Consejo Superior de Cámaras D. Manuel Teruel, organismo impulsor de la reunión
junto con la Embajada de España en Qatar. Fueron dos interesantes jornadas diseñadas para informar
y debatir sobre los intereses del entramado empresarial español en esta zona del mundo.
El programa arrancó con un desayuno en el Hotel Hilton de Doha, en el que las principales empresas
españolas establecidas en Qatar, miembros de la delegación CSC-SBC, se convirtieron en anfitriones
de excepción para dar a conocer al grupo visitante sus intereses en el mercado árabe y el estado
de sus proyectos, con especial atención en aquellos relativos a licitaciones públicas.
Posteriormente se desarrolló un encuentro bilateral entre las Cámaras de Comercio, que contó con la presencia
del Chairman de la Cámara de Comercio de Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani.
La Cámara de Qatar como asociación empresarial del país, siempre participa en los encuentros bilaterales
de inversión y negocios que Qatar organiza anualmente (Alemania alojó la reunión del pasado año).
La visita culminó con una recepción en la residencia de la Embajadora de España en Qatar, su Excma.

On Sunday February 16 we enjoyed the visit of a Spanish trade delegation, chaired by the Spanish Secretary
of State for Trade Jaime García- Legaz Ponce , accompanied by the President of the Superior Council
of Chambers , Manuel Teruel, the meeting organizer, along with the Embassy of Spain in Qatar. Two
interesting workshops were held designed to inform and discuss the interests of the Spanish business network
in this area of the world.
The program ticked off with a breakfast at the Hilton Hotel in Doha, in which the major Spanish companies
based in Qatar, members of the SBC and CSC delegation, became the hosts informing the visiting group of their
interest in their Arabic market and the status of their projects, with special focus on those related to public tenders.
Following the breakfast, a bilateral meeting was held between the Chambers of Commerce , and was attended
by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani.
The Chamber of Qatar as a business association in the country, always participates in bilateral
investment and business meetings organized annually in Qatar (Germany hosted the meeting last year) .
The visit culminated with a reception at the residence of the Ambassador of Spain in Qatar, the Hon.

Con motivo de la visita a Qatar del Secretario de Estado de Comercio español D. Jaime García-Legaz Ponce,
el Spanish Business Council organizó unos días antes un desayuno de trabajo para presentar a la nueva
Junta Directiva.
Los miembros, convocados el 10 de febrero en el Restaurante Argan del Boutique Hotel Al Jasra en el Souq Waqif,
aprovecharon la reunión para poner en relieve sus inquietudes y prioridades necesarias para su desarrollo
en el mercado local.
On the occasion of the visit of the Spanish Minister of State for Commerce Jaime García-Legaz Ponce,
the Spanish Business Council organized, a few days before, a breakfast meeting to introduce the new
SBC Board Members.
The breakfast was held on 10 February at the Argan Restaurant of Boutique Hotel Al Jasra in Souq Waqif,
and the meeting allowed the members to talk about their concerns and priorities necessary for development
in the local market.

IE Business School-Arab Mobile App Challenge
Silatech, el Applied Innovation Institute y Ooredoo han anunciado los ganadores del primer Arab Mobile
App Challenge, una oportunidad única de promover el emprendedurismo, los nuevos negocios y las habilidades
tecnológicas profesionales entre la juventud árabe.
El evento y toda la competición en la región han sido dirigidos por Paris de l’Etraz, Ph.D, Profesor
de IE Business School, quien también dirige el Venture Lab de IE Business School en Madrid y quien
es un destacado miembro del Applied Innovation Institute.
El Arab Mobile App Challenge ha sido diseñado para aumentar el conocimiento, descubrir y apoyar
al talento local y ampliar las opciones de contenidos y aplicaciones en árabe. En una ceremonia
especial celebrada en la sede principal de Ooredoo en Doha, equipos de toda la región tuvieron
conocimiento de quienes habían sido los ganadores, que posteriormente compitieron en la final global
que se ha celebrado en el Mobile World Congress a final de febrero.
Silatech, the Applied Innovation Institute and Ooredoo have announced the winners of the first-ever
Arab Mobile App Challenge, a key opportunity to promote entrepreneurship, start-up businesses,
and technology-based career skills for Arab youth.
The event and the whole competition in the region was conducted by IE Business School Professor Paris de l’Etraz,
Ph.D., who also leads The Venture Lab at IE Business School in Madrid and is an outstanding
member of the Applied Innovation Institute.
The Arab Mobile App Challenge was designed to raise awareness, discover and support local
talent and expand the choice of available Arabic content and applications. At a special ceremony
held at the Ooredoo headquarters in Doha, teams from across the region learned who had won
the regional finals, as well as who competed in the global finals held at the Mobile World Congress
in late February.

GEODIS WILSON ENTREGA CON EXITO TRANVIAS EN DUBAI
GEODIS WILSON: SUCCESSFUL DELIVERY OF DUBAI TRAMS
El pasado mes de enero Geodis Wilson entregó 11 tranvías para el proyecto Al Sufouh Tramway
en Dubai, un proyecto de 10km de largo que une Dubai Marina y Jumeirah con un total de 13
estaciones, el tranvía conectará a su vez con el Metro de Dubai.
Cada tranvía tenia 3 unidades transportadas en MAFI via RORO vessel y se utilizaron trailers con raíles
especiales para la descarga final en la obra.
Geodis Wilson delivered 11 Trams for Al Sufouh Tramway Project in Dubai last January 2014.
The tramway project has 10km line between Dubai Marina and Jumeirah with 13 stations,
the tramway will be connected to the existing Dubai Metro System.
Each tramway delivery consist of 3 units loaded on MAFI via RORO vessel and transferred on specific railed
trailers for a final offloading via ramp to designated job site.

DE RECUPERACION RESIDUAL PARA QAFCO 5
GEODIS WILSON DELIVERED IN QATAR A WASTE BOILER HEAT FOR QAFCO 5
Durante el mes de febrero Geodis Wilson entregó para QAFCO 5 esta caldera proveniente del puerto
de Marghera en Italia, el equipo llegó en un Break Bulk vessel con descarga directa en el puerto
de Doha, sin embargo el transporte del mismo desde el puerto hasta Messaieed Industrial City se realizó
durante la noche por restricciones de circulación debido a las dimensiones y peso del equipo.
Geodis Wilson delivered in February this equipment for QAFCO 5 at Messaieed. The unit was loaded at Port
of Marghera, Italy in a Break Bulk vessel and arrived on Direct Delivery at Doha Port, however the local
transportation to MIC was done during the night because of traffic restrictions due to the oversized
dimensions and weight of the unit.

GEODIS WILSON TRANSPORTED AND INSTALLED 4 POWER
TRANSFORMERS FOR KAHRAMAA
En enero Geodis Wilson realizó el transporte en Break Bulk vessel desde Rijeka, Croacia de 4 transformadores
para la subestación North Gate de Kahramaa. El servicio consistía en transportar los equipos desde el puerto
de Rijeka hasta la instalación de los mismos en la subestación.
La entrega final se realizó en febrero y para ello se utilizaron 4 trailers lowbed, 16 flatbed y una grúa
con 450 toneladas de capacidad para la instalación de los transformadores.
During the month of January Geodis Wilson shipped in a Break Bulk vessel 4 power transformers for
the Kahramaa North Gate Substation. Our scope of work started by loading on board the vessel
the equipments in Rijeka Port and finished in February after the installation into foundations.
For the delivery and installation were required 4 lowbed trailers, 16 flatbed trailers and a 450tons
crane for the installation.

En esta línea, el Spanish Business Council ha consolidado a lo largo de los años el GET TOGETHER,
un evento fijo de networking que se celebra cada primer miércoles de mes, y que goza de gran aceptación
por parte de asociados y no asociados del SBC.
Para nosotros es una gran satisfacción poder reunir a un diversos grupos de profesionales de diferentes
sectores y nacionalidades y, gracias a todos ellos, desarrollar un gran foro de encuentro en Doha.
Networking is on the uprise, and this is because it works. For any sector and any business, professional
meetings and workshops offer the opportunity to establish a forum for discussion, exchange
of information and increased business opportunities.
It’s really clear for us, Networking is a marketing tool to expand our scope which allows us to detect
new customers or collaborators, so in this way, we can create an action plan to benefit both parties.
In this line, the Spanish Business Council has consolidated over the years the GET TOGETHER event,
which has become a fixed and Networking activity held every first Wednesday of the month,
with great acceptance among members and non members of the SBC .
It is for us is a huge satisfaction to be able to bring together a diverse group of business professionals from
different sectors and nationalities and, thanks to all them, develop a great forum for meeting in Doha.
