Conferencia de Aprendizaje de Curington PK-4to grado Marzo 26, 5:45-7:30 5:45-6:00 6:00-6:25 6:30-6:55 7:00-7:25 7:30 Registrarse y escoger las sesiones Sesión I Sesión II Sesión III Concluye la conferencia y nos vamos a casa Habrá mesas para registrarse en el pasillo de enfrente. Cada sesión tendrá 3 hojas para registrarse y en las cuales indicará el cupo máximo para cada sesión. Por favor escoja 3 sesiones y tenga en mente que a lo mejor tendrá que asistir a otra sesión(es) si la que desea está llena. En la mesa de registro usted verá el lugar en donde se llevará a cabo las sesiones que seleccionó y también habrá letreros alrededor de la escuela. Tanto las actividades de Read-O Rama (Lectura) y el Math-O Rama (Matemáticas) se llevarán a cabo, sin interrupción, durante todo el tiempo de la conferencia. Ambos eventos serán en la biblioteca. Adult Only Sessions “Raising a Talker” Speech and language development from birth to 5 years related to oral communication. Developmental milestones will be discussed as well as some early indicators for potential speech and/or language delays. Strategies parents can use with their children to encourage communication from an early age, as well as community resources parents can use to immerse their children in a talkative environment. “Organizing Your Child For Learning” You’ve heard it before “Mom, where’s my backpack? “, or the dreaded announcement at 9:00 at night “I forgot I have a test tomorrow in science”. This session will focus on teaching kids to work smarter not harder. Learn keys for successful learning transitions between home and school. We will discuss ideas for spaces that help kids work and other tools for organized learning. “Reading to Learn” How YOU can empower your child to be an independent thinker. Learn ways that parents can promote reading at home to be healthy, happy readers. “Just Say NO to the R Word” Interactive session discussing the disability awareness, the percentage of Americans living with Intellectual Disabilities and the challenges which our students and communities face due to resources and funding. Adult and Children Sessions “Math Here and There” “Matemáticas por aquí y por allá” Your family will have the opportunity to explore different math concepts while working together on different activities. Get inspired and leave with quick ways to get gardening started in your yard and neighborhood. “Read-O-Rama” Easy activities to practice sight words, vocabulary, story retelling, and basic phonics using manipulatives. (Runs Consecutively) “Technology Applications” Come and take a look at the educational tools your PC and the internet have to offer. Discover some of the technology your student has access to at school, and explore with your student exciting educational technology designed to help your student excel. (Mathnasium of Boerne) “Smart Skies™ Line-up with Math” Participants use a computer-based air traffic control simulator to enact solutions to six air traffic control problems. Real-life mathematics and science applications as well as mathematical reasoning and scientific inquiry to investigate and solve problems based on real life scenarios. “Movement Matters” Tracking? Spinning? Bouncing? Balance? Fine Motor Skills? Come experience how movement can improve a child’s academic success. “Kinder Pantry Party” Come and explore activities using the home pantry to work on early learning skills in the areas of language arts and mathematics. “The How and Why of Number Sense” Learn what it means to have number sense, why it makes math easier, and how you can help your child develop this vital component of math. “How to Handle the Strong Willed Child” Session I Do you ever feel that you are constantly battling with your child? One of the most powerful strategies for avoiding power struggles involves giving choices within limits. It’s all about sharing control; come hear some tried and true guidelines for sharing control through choices. “Helping Your Child With Homework” Session II There’s no need to battle with your child over homework. Far too many parents feel that it’s their job to make their kids do all of their work. As a result, they find themselves in un-winnable power struggles with their kids. Even sadder, their children begin to see learning as frustrating and bad thing. Come hear some tips on how to win the homework battle. “The One Year Plan: A parent’s guide for helping children succeed in school” Session III Want to love and cherish your school aged child the same way you did through their early years? See how parenting with Love and Logic can help you accomplish just that!
