FUE EL INICIO DE UNA SERIE DE PROYECTOS QUE MEZCLABAN EL EXOTISMO ORIENTAL CON EL REFINAMIENTO EUROPEO Y NOS PERMITIÓ INNOVAR Y DESARROLLAR UN ESTILO MUY PERSONAL. DESDE LOS PRIMEROS RESTAURANTES COMO EL CAFÉ SAIGON O EL TSE YANG, QUE SE CONVIRTIERON EN CLÁSICOS EN MADRID, HASTA LLEGAR AL SILK&SPICE O LA CADENA WAGABOO… HAY UN LARGO CAMINO RECORRIDO INTENTANDO SIEMPRE DAR UN PASO ADELANTE Y REINTERPRETANDO ESTE TIPO DE RESTAURACIÓN. IT IS SOME YEARS NOW SINCE WE BEGUN TO WORK IN THIS LITTLE WORLD OF INTERIOR DESIGN, THE RESTAURANT “THAI GARDENS” REPRESENTED OUR LAUNCH AND RECOGNITION. WE HAVE A SPECIAL FONDNESS FOR IT BECAUSE IT REPRESENTED A ‘BEFORE’ AND AN ‘AFTER’ FOR US, OPENING MANY DOORS TO US IN THE RESTORATION FIELD, AND ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO THIS TYPE OF ASIAN DECORATION. IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF A SERIES OF PROJECTS THAT MIXED EASTERN EXOTICISM WITH EUROPEAN REFINEMENT AND IT ALLOWED US TO INNOVATE AND TO DEVELOP A VERY PERSONAL STYLE. FROM THE BEGINNING, RESTAURANTS LIKE THE CAFE SAIGON OR TSE YANG, WHICH BECAME CLASSICS IN MADRID, TO SILK & SPICE OR THE WAGABOO CHAIN…THERE IS A LONG ROAD WHICH WE HAVE TRODDEN WHERE WE HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO TAKE ONE MORE STEP FORWARD AND HAVE REINTERPRETED THIS TYPE OF REFORMATION. Local Yokama. Madrid. España./ “In each and every one of the different projects, the lighting has a fundamental importance to be able to create cosy and different spaces” The Yokama premises. Madrid . Spain. Madrid. España. / The Grill Club Restaurant, Malasaña. Madrid. Our work philosophy can be summarized in one word ‘eclecticism’. On one hand, we like to listen to the client and the idea that he has, and with it we created surroundings that adjust to the wishes of the client, but on the other hand, at times the client does not come with a clear idea and that is when we can allow ourselves greater creativity by proposing new concepts. For this reason as each person has a different concept of the aesthetic, we have come to create a wide range of restaurants from those with very baroque styles to those with minimalist styles. It really pleases us to mix styles, old and avantguard, the ethnic with the retro. All this can be seen in each of our projects. For this reason we like our work for its great diversity of content on which we can create finery. There is a diversity that occurs much more in the restaurants that in houses. The interior design projects, and especially those in the hotel trade, allow you to use more current and challenging languages than those of a house or an office. Interior design by opposing architecture, allows you to arrive at a level of detail, of sophistication in a faster form. Our architectural training is present in our projects in its functionality. Equally important is the durability of the materials and their use in a suitable form. Often innovation does not go hand in hand with functionality, and this aspect is fundamental in all projects. Everything is in a global process in which many people participate and this is what makes our works unique. At the outset both my partner, Juan Sobrino, and I, used to do all the work from the start to the end of the project, but for some time, we dedicate more time to the creative stage of the design. It is fundamental to be abreast of everything that is being made in the world, of new materials and technologies that reach the market, of “the latest” restaurants that have been opened. This is fundamental in this profession, VINUESA LANDA (MADRID, 1967) ES ARQUITECTO DESDE 1992. EN ESTOS and to be informed it is necessary to travel, to go to the fairs to get to know things and to see the sites “in situ”. For that reason at present we are working on some very interesting and different projects from our satellite studios in Miami and Cartagena de Indias. And it has been public demand which has dragged to us to the other side of the Atlantic to be able to handle these projects. At the moment we are finalizing the project for a restaurant serving Spanish gastronomy in one of the biggest hotel complexes in Las Vegas: City Center. In this project they have allowed us loose rein to our imagination creating spaces with sinuous and continuous shapes by using very innovative and sophisticated materials. Quite a surprise for 2009.
