Be a tutor, change a life
Reading Partners, a new program at Ascension School, is
looking for volunteer reading tutors. Reading Partners is an
evidence-based and community-driven organization; it recruits
and trains volunteers to work one-on-one with students for 45
minutes twice a week, following a structured, research-based
curriculum. If you are interested, please contact Margaret

An invitation from the Visitation Sisters
The Visitation Sisters invite you to Salesian Second
Mondays starting Oct. 10 from 6 -8 p.m. at Visitation
Monastery. This year’s series is entitled, “Living Jesus As We
Move Through Our Daily Life.” The Sisters and their friends
will be sharing stories on how they live their spirituality
every day, focusing on Gospel Living through a Salesian
lens in the marketplace, families and neighborhoods. You

reflection, before closing the evening with prayer.

The Knights of Columbus at St. Bridget’s invites the
men and women of Ascension and other North Side

location has changed to Brennan Hall at the St.

parishioners, over a relaxing dinner, about what help
they could use from the nation’s pre-eminent Catholic

¿NUESTRA RESPUESTA?
En las lecturas de hoy, Naamán, el general extranjero y
leproso, está sanado de su enfermedad. ¿Su respuesta?
Construir un altar a Dios. San Pablo sufra por anunciar
a Jesucristo, y en vez de quejarse, sigue proclamando
palabras de salvación. Diez leprosos están sanados por
Jesús y solamente uno, el extranjero samaritano, regresa
para dar gracias y gloria a Dios.
¿Cómo respondemos nosotros cuando hemos recibido
algo inesperado de Dios? Hace varios meses estuve
haciendo compras en la tienda CUB en Uptown y una
persona anónima pagó por mi compra. ¿QUÉ? No pude
creerlo. ¡CARAMBA! Lancé palabras de incredulidad y
gracias a todos alrededor de mí y mi hija , esperando que
la persona generosa recibiría mi agradecimiento. Pero
también sé que no puedo parar allí. Como Naamán,
Pablo y el leproso samaritano, estoy llamada de estar
agradecida y seguir en el ejemplo de otras personas y
nuestro Dios generoso.

NOTICIAS IMPORTANTES: El catecismo
COMENZARÁ el 30 de octubre debido a
la falta de espacio mientras que estámos
renovando la iglesia. Sin embargo, los
catequistas están reuniéndose con familias
el 9 o 16 de octubre. Ellos estarán en
comunicación con los padres de familia
para citarles.
Todavía estamos aceptando matriculas para Primera
Comunión, la Confirmación y RICA. Favor de registrarse
después de las misas dominicales o durante la semana con
Aurora en la oficina parroquial.
Clases se llevan a cabo los domingos de 9:30 a 11:20 a.m. y
toda la familia va a misa después.
NIÑOS: • Preparación para la primera comunión, edad
mínima = 8 años.
•Para la confirmación, edad mínima = 13 años.
PADRES: Los dos programas de preparación sacramental se
llevan a cabo en un periodo de 2 años.
-- Mamá o papá tiene que asistir clases catequéticas para
