Atención Jardineros: ¿Aplicas fertilizantes en los jardines de la Florida? Sabías que la ley de la Florida requiere que los jardineros obtengan una licencia para aplicar nutrientes al césped y jardines. La Universidad de la Florida (UF) y el Departamento de Protección Ambiental (FDEP) estarán ofreciendo el entrenamiento de las Mejores Prácticas de Manejo Para la Protección de los Recursos Hídricos por Parte de las Industrias Verdes [Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI­BMP)] en la ciudad de Fort Pierce el día Martes 18 de Diciembre del 2012. Esta clase será simultáneo en Ingles y Español. La clase será dictada en la Universidad de la Florida – Servicio de Extensión y Centro de Educación e Investigación, desde las 8 de la mañana hasta las 3 y media de la tarde. El costo de $25 por la clase incluye desayuno, almuerzo, materiales de entrenamiento, y la presencia de profesionales expertos en la materia. La ley de la Florida establece que todos los aplicadores comerciales de fertilizantes tendrán que obtener una licencia del Departamento de Agricultura y Servicio al Consumidor (FDACS) empezando el primero de Enero del año 2014. Para obtener esta licencia, cada trabajador de la industria verde que aplique fertilizantes deberá atender y pasar la clase del GI­BMP. Los participantes que pasen el examen del GI­BMP, obtendrán un certificado de la Universidad de la Florida y el Departamento de Protección Ambiental y podrán aplicar a la licencia de aplicación de fertilizantes en zona urbanas. Mientras que a nivel estatal la ley no está todavía siendo controlada, algunas leyes locales como en St. Lucie County, requieren que los trabajadores de jardines obtengan el entrenamiento y certificación del GI­BMP. Attention landscapers: do you apply fertilizers to Florida Yards? Did you know that Florida Law requires landscapers to have a license to apply plant nutrients to lawns and landscapes? The University of Florida and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection are offering a Green­Industry Best Management Practices (GI­BMPs) Training Workshop in Fort Pierce on Tuesday December 18, 2012. One class will be held in English, and another to be taught in Spanish will also be available. The classes will be held at the UF/IFAS Research & Education Center in Fort Pierce, FL from 8 am to 3:30 pm. The program fee of $25 will provide reference manuals, training from certified instructors and includes refreshments and lunch. Florida Law states that all commercial fertilizer applicators must have a license from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) by January 1, 2014. To get this license, each commercial Green Industry worker must be trained. Persons passing the test receive a certificate of completion from UF/IFAS and FDEP, and will qualify for this new license. While state­wide enforcement will not begin for a while, some local ordinances [such as in Martin and St. Lucie County now require landscape workers to have this training.
