a form of abuse, and therefore
is forbidden in our Catholic
schools? Bullying typically
consists of direct behaviors,
such as teasing, taunting,
threatening, hitting, shoving
and stealing. But it might also
be indirect, such as spreading rumors that cause victims to be socially isolated through intentional exclusion. Cyber-bullying, which involves the use of the
Internet or mobile phones to send inappropriate messages and images to or about others, is also behavior
that is not tolerated in our Catholic schools. If you
suspect bullying of a child at school, please contact
the school principal with your concerns.

ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO BECOME
A DEACON?
There will be an information meeting for all men
who are interested in finding out more about becoming a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Los
Angeles. Members of the Archdiocesan Diaconate
Formation Office will be there to explain the role of
the deacon in the Church, the diaconate formation
program, and answer questions that you might have.
Men must be between the ages of 30 and 60 years to
enter the diaconate formation program. If you are
married, the decision as to whether to apply to the
program or not, is a joint decision. Wives therefore
are expected to attend the information meeting as
well. Please feel free to also invite your pastor. If
you have any questions, please call the Diaconate
