Family Obligations 2012 - 2013

Active Parishioners
All Catholic families are required to be active and participating members of a Catholic parish. The Eucharist is the
source and summit of the Christian life, and participating in the life of the Church means participating in Sunday
Mass each week. This is a requirement for our families and your children’s Catholic education is incomplete
without it. Evidence of participation is derived from the use of Sunday envelopes deposited in the collection basket
at Sunday Mass at either Saint Frances of Rome or Our Lady of Charity. If you are a registered and participating
member of another Catholic parish, you must have the pastor complete the form included in your registration
packet and return it to the school principal during the month of December.
Tuition
All families must register for an account with Tuition Management Systems (TMS). Monthly payments are due on
either the 5th or 20th of each month beginning in August and finishing in May. Families with a past due balance in
excess of $750 will be excluded from classes at the end of the first marking period and again at the end of the third
marking period. While we do not wish to deny a Catholic education to any child due to financial hardship, it is
important that parents fulfill their agreed-upon financial obligations to the school out of fairness to other school
parents, parishioners, and the Archdiocese who support our school financially.
Fundraising
The main way that we keep tuition at its current level is through school fundraising. These activities are only
successful when everyone is involved.
There are three parts of our fundraising program:
1. Chocolate Sale – Each student must sell one box of chocolate at the cost of $60 total.
2. Event Raffle – Each family must sell 20 raffle tickets ($5 each) for $100 total for the Mardi Gras Gala at St.
Frances of Rome or the Snow Ball at Our Lady of Charity.
3. Flex Fundraising – Each family must complete $100 in other fundraising throughout the school year. The most
popular ways to do this are:
• By selling more than one box of chocolate – each one is worth $32 toward your obligation
• By selling an advertisement, obtaining a donation for the silent auction, or by attending the Mardi
Gras Gala (SFR) or the Snow Ball (OLC) (More information to follow)
• By participating in the Cicero Catholic Schools 5K Run/Walk (tentative).
• Other ways to complete this requirement will be announced throughout the school year.
If you do not complete this obligation, you will be billed for the balance at the end of the school year.
Volunteering – Parent Commitment Program
All families are required to offer fifteen hours of volunteer service to the parish and/or school. These hours can be
completed in a variety of ways including: chaperoning class field trips, parish clean up days, coaching, assisting
teachers with projects, lunch room volunteers, helping at FSA/HSA events, church cleaners, assist on committees
or volunteer for school fundraising events (Snow Ball or Mardi Gras), catechism teachers, and many other
opportunities. Hours not completed will be charged to a families tuition account at a rate of $15 per hour.

Feligreses Activos
Todas las familias católicas tienen que ser miembros registrados y activos en alguna parroquia católica. La Eucaristía
es fuente y culmen de la vida cristiana y participar en la vida de la Iglesia significa participar en la Misa dominical
cada semana. Este es un requisito para nuestras familias y sus niños; la educación católica esta incompleta sin él. La
evidencia de su participación se deriva del uso de los sobres dominicales que depositan en la canasta de la colecta en
la misa dominical en Santa Francisca de Roma o en Nuestra Señora de la Caridad. Si usted esta registrado y participa
en otra parroquia católica, su párroco tendrá que llenar la forma que se incluyo en su paquete de inscripción y
enviarla al director de la escuela durante el mes de Diciembre.
Colegiatura
Todas las familias deben establecer una cuenta con Tuition Managment Systems (TMS). Los pagos mensuales se
pueden hacer ya sea el día 5 o 20 de cada mes, comenzando en agosto y terminando en mayo. Las familias que
deban mas de $750 sus niños no serán admitidos en clase al final del primer periodo y nuevamente al final del tercer
período. Si bien no queremos negar la educación católica a ningún niño debido a dificultades financieras, es
importante que los padres cumplan con sus obligaciones financieras con la escuela en justicia a otros padres de
familia, feligreses y a la Arquidiócesis que apoyan a nuestra escuela económicamente.
Recaudación de Fondos
La forma principal en que mantenemos la colegiatura al nivel actual es la recaudación de fondos a través de la
escuela. Estas actividades sólo tienen éxito cuando todos participan. Hay tres formas de recaudación de fondos:
1. Venta de chocolates - Cada estudiante debe vender una caja de chocolates con valor de $60.
2. Rifa - Cada familia debe vender 20 boletos ($5 cada uno) por un total de $100.
Ya sea para la rifa del Mardi Gras Gala de Santa Francisca de Roma o el Snow Ball en Nuestra Señora de la Caridad.
3. Recaudación Flexible - Cada familia debe cumplir durante el año escolar con $100 en otras formas de recaudación
de fondos. Las actividades mas comunes son:
· Vendiendo mas que una caja de chocolate – el valor de $32 se acreditaran a su cuenta por cada uno extra.
· Vendiendo un anuncio, obteniendo una donación para la subasta, o por asistir al Mardi Gras Gala (SFR)
o el Snow Ball (OLC)(habrá más información)
· Participando en la 5K Carrera/Caminata de las Escuelas Católicas de Cicero (tent)
· Otras formas de cumplir con este requisito se anunciarán durante el año escolar.
Si usted no cumple esta obligación, se le cobrara el saldo al final del año escolar
Voluntariado – Programa de Compromiso de los Padres
Se requiere que todas las familias cumplan con quince horas de servicio voluntario a la parroquia y/o la escuela.
Estas horas se puede realizar en diversas formas, incluyendo: acompañar a los niños en las excursiones de la escuela,
ayudando en los días de limpieza de la parroquia, como entrenador de algún equipo de deportes, ayudando a los
profesores con proyectos, ayudando a la hora del almuerzo de los niños, ayudando en los eventos del FSA/HSA,
ayudar en los comités o como voluntario para los eventos de la escuela para recaudar fondos (Snow Ball o Mardi
Gras), catequistas, y muchas otras oportunidades. Las horas que no se realicen serán cargadas a la cuenta de la
colegiatura a razón de $15 por hora.
