PARISH BULLETIN BOARD- PRAYERS OF THE WEEK
HOLY WEEK
In God's eyes, love is never absent. In God's heart, forgiveness is never impossible. In God's embrace, no one is ever alone or forgotten. O my Lord Jesus Christ
give me the help, grace, profound compassion and understanding of your sufferings as I now enter into the sorrowful meditation of your passion and death.
Monday
Before entering His passion, Jesus goes to His mother to ask for her blessing. In this act, He teaches us how we must be obedient. The love between mother
and son is so intense that it makes you inseparable and so you leave yourself in the heart of your mother, and the sweet mother and queen leaves herself in
you. Otherwise it would be impossible for you to separate. So, blessing each other, you give her your last kiss to strengthen her in the bitter pain she is about
to suffer. You tell her goodbye for the last time, and leave. But the paleness of your face, your trembling lips, your suffocated voice, as though wanting to
burst into tears in saying goodbye... ah, everything tells me how much You love her and how much You suffer in leaving her! But to fulfill the Will of the Father, with your hearts fused into each other, You submit Yourselves to everything. Grief keeps her from saying more and leaves her speechless. On this Holy
Monday, let me dig deep to discover the impurities within me dear Lord, through the cleansing power of your spirit and let my actions and thoughts from now
be such that they can withstand Your penetrating light.
Tuesday
He was the Son of the Father—the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Jesus came into the world under the humblest of conditions in a stable... laid on a bed of
straw—the food for the sheep. He is the "Lamb of God," giving us His own body as our food, and blood as our drink. His entry into Jerusalem with the people
shouting" hosanna" was short lived... In less than a week, this cheering crowd would cry out "crucify Him," and His followers would all scatter. Judas would
betray Him for the price of a slave—30 pieces of silver—and Peter would deny Him three times. Of the apostles, only John would stay with Mary, at the foot
of the cross. He died naked, beaten, nailed to a cross, struggling for each breath, punished as a criminal.
Do I have the courage to stand at the foot of the cross with His mother, attempting to offer whatever comfort I can with my examination of my own conscience, as I force myself not to avert my eyes from what He sacrificed for me?
On this Holy Tuesday, let me submit myself to your authority in all that I do, silently rejoicing that I am able to do your will and be your instrument in this
world.
Wednesday
How ready are we to be discontented and impatient; when the innocent Son of God, who deserved no suffering could quietly submit to sufferings inconceivably great, and say it over and over… God's will be done! Christ, at the time of his agony, had an inconceivably greater trial of obedience than any man or any
angel ever had. His tears that flowed from his eyes were from love; his great sweat was from love; his blood, his prostrating himself on the ground before the
Father, was from love; his earnest crying to God was from the strength and ardency of his love. Can we even begin to fathom the depth of the love that
this Christ had for the world... that He could suffer such an unimaginable horrific death for each and every one of us ?
Alone, abandoned, forsaken. No one to turn to, no one who cares. The most awful feeling for any human being is to feel completely alone, especially in the
midst of suffering. Is there no one who will even try, who will walk with me this sorrowful way?
HOLY THURSDAY
On this most holy night, as the Paschal moon sheds its soft light over the world, we are bidden to spend
it with Jesus, Our Lord has done all He possible could do for His disciples. He had just given to them and
to us the most wonderful gift in the world... Himself... through the common substance of bread and
wine during their evening meal. Indeed, on this day Our Lord gives us almost too many good things. His
example of humility by washing the feet of His disciples, the assurance of His peace, the command to
love one another, the promise of the Holy Spirit and His very self in the Blessed Sacrament. So, "Could
you not watch with me one hour?" On the most holy night, Jesus asks this of us all. Will you come and
"taste and see how gracious is the Lord?" A verse of a Eucharistic Hymn will probably haunt you all
night.
Strength and protection may Thy Passion be, O Blessed Jesus, hear and answer me deep in Thy wounds,
Lord, hide and shelter me... so I shall never, never part from Thee
His love held out to them; having loved his own, he loved them to the end. He did not say within himself when this cup of trembling was before him, "Why should I endure so much for those that are so
ungrateful; why should I here wrestle with the expectation of the terrible wrath of God to be borne by
me tomorrow, for them that in the meantime have not so much concern for me as to keep awake with
me when I desire it of them even for one hour?" But on the contrary, with tender and fatherly compassion He excuses this ingratitude of his disciples… Can we remain awake... and watch and pray?
GOOD FRIDAY
Just as the sword pierces Your side, let it pierce our hearts to overflow with love for you, dear Savior of the world. Just as the nails penetrated Your hands,
may they drive out all our sins. As you cried out "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do", we crave for your forgiveness for every time we have
driven those nails in further. As You gave up Your Spirit, let us too die to sin everyday. As we kneel and kiss Your feet today on this sad Good Friday, may we
do it lovingly and penitently. May it enforce on us the weight of the Cross, and then see that weight lifted in the glow of God's love. I venerate Your cross, O
Lord, for by virtue of the Cross, joy has come to the whole world, O Holy God, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on me!
CONTINUED ON THE NEXT PAGE
Holy Saturday
As we behold the body of Jesus in the tomb today, and as we contemplate the mystery of our death, we prepare our hearts to receive the Good
News of life. We know that tomb will be empty and remain empty forever as a sign that our lives will not really end, but only be transformed. One day, we will all rest in the embrace of Jesus, who knows our death, and who prepares a place for us in everlasting life. Our reflection on this Holy Saturday, and our anticipation of celebrating the gift of life tonight and tomorrow, can bring immense peace and joy, powerful
freedom and vitality to our lives. For if we truly believe that death holds no true power over us, we can walk each day in the grace being offered
us - to give our lives away in love.
When we breathe the evening air, when we catch the sweet smells of the new season… we
have hints of a day that knows no ending, a light that will not yield to darkness, tonight we
affirm our ancient faith... Christ has robbed death of its ultimate sting and has invigorated this
sweet, precious, precarious, once-only life that is slipping away from us with every hour and
day and year.

a divine reading, a personal encounter with God in Sacred Scripture.
It provides the faithful to nourish their faith by contemplating
Christ’s teachings.
In each session, Archbishop Collins reads an excerpt of
Scripture Passage, offers a short reflection, and invites the congregation to quietly meditate on the passage.
Through Lectio Divina, we learn to read the Bible not just
for information, but primarily for transformation.

SUNDAY 8AM MASS ANTIPHONS
Entrance Antiphon
Hosanna filio David; benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Rex Israel: Hosanna in excelsis.
Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of
the Lord, the King of Israel. Hosanna in the highest.
Pueri Hebraeorum portantes ramos olivarum, obviaverunt Domino,
clamantes et dicentes Hosanna in excelsis
The children of the Hebrews, carrying olive branches, went to meet
the Lord, crying out and saying Hosanna in the highest.
Pueri Hebraeorum, vestimenta prosternebant in via, et clamabant
dicentes Hosanna filio David: benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.
The children of the Hebrews spread their garments on the road, crying out and saying: Hosanna to the son of David; blessed is he who
comes in the name of the Lord.
Gloria, laus et honor tibi sit Rex Christe Redemptor: Cui puerile decus
prompsit Hosanna pium.
Glory and honor and praise be to you, Christ and Redeemer, to whom
young children cried out loving Hosannas with joy
Offertory Antiphon
Improperium expectavit cor meum, et miseriam: et sustinui qui simul
contristaretur, et non fuit: consolantem me quaesivi, et non inveni: et
dederunt in escam meam fel, et in siti mea potaverunt me aceto.
My heart has awaited reproach and affliction, and I looked for one
who would grieve with me, but there was none. I sought for one who
would console me, and I found none. They gave me gall for my food,
and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
HOLY, HOLY HOLY: Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus, Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria tua. Hosanna in excelsis. Benedictus qui
venit in nomine Domini. Hosanna in excelsis.
LAMB OF GOD: Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere
nobis. (2 X) Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.
