The Children's Liturgy during the Sunday Mass has concluded for the summer and will be back after Labor Day weekend in September. Thank you to all of the volunteers that have helped teach and share God's word with our children. Thank you to Steve Mesiti, Kelly Cuzzupoli, Marlene Beghini, Jessica Horn, Mary Ellen and Dan Bamburowski and their family. Thank you to those that have helped as assistants, such as Alex Covert, Sheridan Grady, Ben Graves. The Children's Liturgy is always looking for more volunteers from our parish to help as either a teacher or an assistant. If you think you may be interested or have some questions about the commitment please contact Jessica Horn at [email protected]. From the Brockport Clothing Center... Thank you to our faithful team of Jerry Adduci, Barb Kelly, Mary Bleier, Val Kumar, Pat Sommers, Brian Graves, June Keller, Gloria Mack, Zack Maxon, Sue Hullfish and Donna Glogowski, and newcomers: Yvonne Iacobucci and Dan & Diane MacEwan. We tackled a Clothing Center gifted with large donations. The team valiantly sorted, hung, and hung some more. The number of people served was lower than previous times—175, but individuals and families found clothing & linens that they needed. The two young Elders from the Church of the Latter Day Saints continue to assist the Center as well every Sunday. We are ecumenical and thankful… - Sharon Wheat & Bonnie Grentzinger Learn How to Pray Would you like to have a deeper relationship with Jesus? Would you like to learn a regular practice of prayer? We would like to get started with the planning for next year’s program, and combine it with Youth Ministry. If your family has a candidate ready to begin confirmation preparation, please contact the office, so we can get everybody together and plan a dynamic program that helps our young people grow in faith. Also, if anyone is interested in helping with the program, please call the office, or talk to Fr. Joe. Thanks so much. Page 3 Church of the Nativity, Brockport, New York Father Joe’s Week: Last Thursday Frs. McKenna, Forni and I went to Applebee’s for lunch, then to see Far From the Madding Crowd. My mother was taken to the hospital that morning, so my Brother Chris was calling me to keep me updated. She was stable and placed in a regular room. All the while I was leaving the theater to get phone calls—I eventually left and waited for Kevin and John outside. I wasn’t enjoying the movie anyway—never liked Thomas Hardy…That evening I learned that my Aunt Eleanor had died in Pittsburgh…Friday Jim Downs and I met with Jorge Salgado to plan for migrant ministry. We are contacting the local growers to get information on how to best minister to their workers. We hope to do stuff in the camps: Masses, bible study, etc., and facilitate the workers get to mass on Sunday. Thanks to Jim for helping us get this going…Saturday morning I went to Wolcott for Pat Younglove’s 80th birthday party. We had Mass at the parish, then a wonderful dinner on Sodus Bay. Pat has been with me to Ireland twice, and I’ve stayed with her brother Rod, a Franciscan priest, in Florida. It was good to see many friends…Sunday, after the Masses, I went to Fr. Dan Holland’s 50th anniversary party at the Johnson House in Churchville. It was a great time, and Congratulations, Dan. I was his assistant in Elmira when I left here the first time…Monday after Mass I left for Pittsburgh. My Aunt’s funeral was Tuesday, but I was able to be there for the viewing on Monday as well. It’s only four and a half hours driving from here. Thanks to Deacon Chris Fisher for doing a communion service Tuesday morning. I stayed at St. Rosalia’s parish in Greenfield, where the funeral was held. Everything went just fine. I think this is the 9th or 10th family funeral I’ve celebrated in Pittsburgh, and they are always heart-wrenching, but I’m so glad I’m there…Wednesday we had bible study—just a couple joining in. That evening I went to Ashley and Chris Higgins to prepare them for Baptism of their first child Addison Grace. Thanks for the lovely supper. Addison kept us hopping, as did their weimaraner Dudley. I had a great time. I’m not sure we saw too much of the video I brought, so I left it with them. I did Chris and Ashley’s wedding last July…My Mom came home from hospital on Tuesday…God bless and have a good week. “NEW TO YOU” SALE Donations for our “New to You” Sale It’s a good time to do some Spring cleaning! Bring your gently used items for our sale to be held July 9-11 during the Nativity Festival. Please call Jerry Adduci at 637-6992 to make arrangements to drop them off. June 14, 2015 Chicken Barbecue The Human Concerns Committee would like to thank all of you who donated to the Chicken Barbecue on May 30. Because of your generosity, the South Sudan Village Care Foundation are able to purchase medicines and equipment to help combat diseases such as malaria, typhoid fever, pneumonia and a multiple of other illnesses. Your contributions will help in making a difference. God bless you and folks in South Sudan. Enactment of the Education Tax Credit Measure The NYS Catholic Bishops joined a broad coalition of faith groups, community organizations and labor unions backing legislation called the Education Investment Tax Credit. Part of the proposal to Governor Cuomo enables taxpayers who bear additional expenses for their children’s education beyond what they pay in state and local taxes receive tax credit. Bishop Matano encourages everyone to contact their state legislators to ask them to support this measure. The deadline is June 17, so act quickly... To easily send an e-mail to your state representative and read more about this legislation, just visit the New York State Catholic Conference website at www.nyscatholic.org . Fr. Joe’s Bible Study Join Fr. Joe on Wednesday mornings after Mass (about 8:45 am) for a study on the readings for the coming Sunday. We will meet in the Parish Center. Bring your bible and questions. FutureNow Leadership Training Program from Wednesday, June 24 10:00 am to Thursday, June 25 4:00 pm at Holy Cross in Charlotte. June 14, 2015 Oración diaria al Sagrado Corazón. Señor Jesucristo, a tu Sagrado Corazón confío esta intención (petición). Solamente mírame, y luego haz lo que me inspiras. Deja que tu Corazón decida. Cuento contigo. Amen. Daily Prayer to the Sacred Heart Oh Lord, Jesus Christ, to Your most Sacred Heart I confide this intention (name petition). Only look upon me, then do what Your inspires. Let Your Sacred Heart decide. I count on You. I trust in You. I throw myself on Your mercy. Lord Jesus, You will not fail me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your love for me. Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your kingdom come. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked You for many favors, but I earnestly implore this one. Take it, place it in Your open Heart. When the Eternal Father looks upon it, He will see it covered with Your Precious Blood. It will be no longer my prayer, but Yours, Jesus. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You. Let me not be disappointed. Amen.
