St. Brendan the Navigator
Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica • November 9, 2014 The Navigator El Navegante St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church Cumming, GA Go… Baptize… Teach… Vayan… Bauticen… E nseñen… • • • • Advent Penance Service – Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the Penance Service on Tuesday, December 2, at 7:00 pm. Red curbs on campus – for your safety and the safety of others on our campus please respect the red painted curbs which indicate fire lanes. Please remember that no stopping, standing or parking is allowed in these areas. Our Music department is in need of a volunteer librarian to help organize the weekly distribution of printed material. Please contact Lynne Sterritt: [email protected]. Mass Etiquette - When we enter and leave Church, please remember to genuflect toward the Tabernacle and help our children learn/practice this simple devotion. Christ is present for our sake. By allowing our right knee to hit the floor, we acknowledge He is our Lord and God. If someone is physically unable to genuflect, then a bow is sufficient. What percentage does God ask of me as a good steward? All of my heart, all of my soul, all of my mind and all of my strength! Next weekend is Stewardship Renewal Weekend -‐ the time we reconfirm our commitment to our parish. Each gift of time, talent and treasure strengthens our parish and helps to build up the Kingdom of God. To Go, Baptize and Teach requires full commitment from each of us. What are you committing to? OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S GENEROSITY Christian Stewardship is a biblically based Catholic spirituality which becomes an entire way of life. We are called to use the abundant blessings God has given us to follow Jesus Christ as His disciple. At least once each year it is wise to review how we have been using our many gifts and to make a conscious plan for how we will be more grateful stewards in the coming year. STEWARDING THE GIFT OF TREASURE Contrary to what our American culture teaches us, there is no such thing as a “self- made man.” We are stewards – not owners – of the money and possessions in our care. As good stewards we use the talents, contacts, inheritance, education and opportunities God gave us to build up some measure of wealth. With that comes the responsibility to share our abundance with those who have less and respond to God’s generosity with a gift that is both planned and proportionate. ANNUAL PLAN Making an annual plan to wisely steward the money and possessions God has entrusted to you can be done as part of the family budgeting process for the year. To keep your giving proportionate, your financial stewardship plan may change from year to year as your circumstances change, such as a raise in pay or a layoff, receiving an inheritance or increased family medical expenses.
