FROM THE PASTOR’S NOTES
Often it is the poor and those who are insignificant in the eyes of the world who are first to acknowledge the works of
Christ. Bartimaeus encounters Jesus “on the way.” So did the rich man. He belonged to the higher social status and rejected an invitation to the Lord. The one at the absolute bottom of the social order, Bartimaeus, does not even wait for the
invitation to be extended. He jumps up, gives up all, and is ready to follow Jesus “on the way.” He is able to see what the
rich man did not. Sometimes in the Gospel we see people tell the Lord what they want him to do for them. Jesus asks
Bartimaeus what he wants the Lord to do for him. The response : Lord I want to see.
How is the Lord offering to help you? Place your trust completely in him.

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
OCTOBER 28, 2012
Diocese of Dallas Catholic Charities Sunday
On November 3rd & 4th, the Diocese of Dallas will celebrate Catholic Charities Sunday – a weekend annually designated by Bishop Kevin J. Farrell, Bishop of Dallas, as a special call to action on behalf of the growing number of families in need right here in Dallas. We ask parishioners across the Diocese to “Team up with CCD” to alleviate hunger
and prevent homelessness. You have the incredible opportunity to make a big difference in someone’s life and with
just a little love and generosity.
The need seems endless, but your gift of love is priceless. Therefore, 100% of funds raised during Catholic Charities Sunday will go directly towards providing temporary financial or material assistance to struggling families in Dallas.
Your donation is a source of hope in times of crisis for desperate families facing eviction who need their rent paid, the
elderly and vulnerable in peril due to health hazards from losing electricity or water, or hungry families looking to put
food on their table. No funds will be used for CCD administrative expenses.
Join other CCD supporters across Dallas who have chosen to “Team up with CCD & Change lives” by donating to the
second collection Nov. 3rd-4th, or give online at www.ccdallas.org/ccsunday. If you are interested in receiving a “Team
CCD” bracelet to wear alongside other supporters to proudly show your commitment to help change the lives of those
in need in Dallas, please visit our website at www.ccdallas.org/teamccd.
You can give a donation easily by returning your Catholic Charities Sunday envelope with your donation enclosed. You
can also give online at www.ccdallas.org, or on your smartphone at m.ccdallas.org. Donors are able to sign up to text
donations, once registered, for one-step donating and event ticket purchases!
