First Bimester is Gone!
The first bimester of this school year is almost over. Here are some
important things that have happened or will happen soon:

• Students had two very important ceremonies: September 11, and

• Homework, projects, and other work are always posted on Schoology.

• Afterschool (academic & sports) has already started. If your child

• On October 12 , students in grade 10 took the PSAT examinations as
preparation for their SAT exams.
• MAP examinations have begun. Your
children are taking tests in four areas:
English Language Usage, Reading,
Mathematics, and Science.

Thanksgiving Celebration!

This year, as in all years before, our PTA will organize the Thanksgiving
Luncheon. For this WI tradition, the community gathers as one family to
celebrate. This year, the PTA is kindly asking for the following:
6th, 8th, and 10th grade: apple or pumpkin pays
7th, 9th, 11th and 12th grade: apple juice
Also if you want to participate even more, we also need:
• Volunteers to heat and slice the turkeys and bring them to school
• Volunteers to prepare the mashed potatoes and sweet corn
If you would like to participate in the luncheon service, please feel free to
contact Mrs. Konik ([email protected]).
And remember that we also share this annual tradition with our children
from Hogar Dulce Hogar!
The International Baccalaureate at Westhill!
Representatives from the International Baccalaureate Organization will visit
Westhill on November 17 and 18. This is our formal authorization visit for the
Diploma Program in high school. These dates are extremely important for the
continuous improvement of Westhill’s academic programs. Parents who wish
to participate in this authorization visit should contact Enrique Vargas at
[email protected]. The international review team will ask for
appointments to interview parents of IB Diploma Program students.
This past October, teachers from the IB Diploma Program attended an On-Site
Workshop for the Diploma Program’s Extended Essay, the 4000-word
independent research project that forms an integral part of this advanced
curriculum.
Sweater Km
Starting this month, we will be gathering sweaters and clothing
for the institutions we support. Please keep this in mind if you
have some clothing in good condition that you wish to donate.
We are also asking for new pajamas and blankets.
School Hours
Our school hours have not changed. Classes begin
promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:20 p.m.
Please make sure that your children arrive
BEFORE 8:00 a.m. every day!

¡Se Terminó el Primer Bimestre!
Highlights
El primer bimestre de este año escolar ha concluido. Aquí un listado de
notas importantes que han sucedido o sucederán pronto:
• Los alumnos han tenido dos ceremonias de gran relevancia: 11 de
septiembre y el Día de la Independencia de México
• Las familias de Westhill donaron productos para Hogar Dulce
Hogar. Gracias a todos!
• Tareas, trabajos, proyectos, etc., se encuentran en Schoology.
Pídanle a sus hijos(as) la información de su cuenta para que puedan
accesar a ella.
• El 12 de octubre, los alumnos del grado 10 tomaron los exámenes
del PSAT como preparación para el SAT.
• Los exámenes de MAP han comenzado. Sus hijos serán evaluados
en cuatro áreas: English Language Usage, Reading, Mathematics y
Science.
• Las calificaciones estarán disponibles en nuestra página web. Las
boletas podrán ser consultadas por este medio. En cuanto estén
disponibles les haremos llegar un correo electrónico.

¡Celebración de Acción de Gracias!
Este año, como en los anteriores, nuestro PTA organizará la Comida de Acción de Gracias. Para
esta tradición de WI, la comunidad se reúne como una gran familia a celebrar. Este año, el PTA les
pide amablemente lo siguiente:
6º, 8º y 10º: pays de manzana o calabaza, 7º, 9º, 11º y 12º: jugo de manzana
Si desea participar aún más, también se necesitan:
• Voluntarios para calentar y rebanar los pavos y llevarlos al colegio
• Voluntarios para preparar el puré de papa y elote

¡El Bachillerato Internacional en Westhill!
Representantes de la Organización del Bachillerato Internacional visitarán
Westhill el 17 y 18 de Noviembre. Esta es la visita formal de autorización del
Programa del Diploma en high school. Estas fechas son de extrema
importancia para la mejora continua de los programas académicos de
Westhill. Si desea participar en esta visita de autorización por favor contacte
a Enrique Vargas ([email protected]). El equipo de revisión
internacional pedirá reunirse con padres de familia de los alumnos del
Programa del Diploma.
El pasado mes de octubre, profesores del Programa del Diploma asistieron a
un taller de la Monografía: la investigación independiente de 4000 palabras
que es parte integral de este avanzado programa.
Km del Suéter
Recuerde que estamos recolectando suéteres y ropa para las
instituciones que apoyamos. Por favor tenga esto en mente si
tiene ropa en buen estado que desee donar. También estamos
pidiendo pijamas y cobertores nuevos.
Horario de Clases
El horario de clases no ha cambiado.
Comenzamos clases puntualmente a las 8:00 a.m. y
terminamos a las 3:20.
Todos los alumnos deben de estar en el colegio antes de las
8:00 a.m.
