will be open daily Monday-Friday during the

Join our Summer Math Splash Program Monday June 18 to Friday August 10,
2012! Get prizes every week and gain free admission to the Slauson Pool just for
completing your grade specific math packet. Program is open to all children
grades 1st -5th. . Registration begins Monday June 18, 2012 and you can register
at any of our summer playground sites.

Teen Post Highlights: The City of Azusa Recreation and Family Services Department encourages a fun
and safe environment for our local teens. The Teen Post is located in the North Recreation Center (NRC).
The Teen Post consists of a game room with two pool tables, foosball table, and a flat screen TV. The
North Recreation Center includes an open gym, dance room, computer lab, kitchen and more. The Teen
Post is open Monday-Friday 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. We welcome all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.

FACILITY RENTALS

The City of Azusa has many beautiful venues for your next party, business meeting or business seminar.
The Azusa Woman’s Club
The newly restored Woman’s Club is an elegant setting for wedding receptions and special occasions. The Spanish style
building has a beautiful patio and will accommodate 250 guests. An in house caterer provides delicious meals and appetizers for your gathering.
The Azusa Senior Center
The Senior Center is the perfect location family reunions, adult birthday parties and community gatherings. The dining
room accommodates 200 guests and small classrooms are also available.
Memorial Park Recreation Center
The Recreation Center offers meeting rooms, an indoor gymnasium, and mirrored classrooms. This setting would be wonderful for children’s birthday parties, baby showers, family parties and business meetings.
Memorial Park North Recreation Center (NRC)

The new North Recreation Center offers meeting rooms, an
indoor gymnasium and mirrored classroom. The center is the
perfect location for family parties and community gatherings,
accommodating 250 guests for dining and 500 for assembly.

Picnic Shelters are available to rent for outdoor parties. You can
avoid the hassle of getting up at sunrise to save a table at the
Parks, by reserving a shelter for a small fee.
The Gazebo at Veteran’s Freedom Park
The Gazebo is available for outdoor ceremonies and celebrations.
The Gazebo will seat 150 guests and the adjacent park and gardens will make the event unforgettable. The Azusa Senior Center
and Woman’s Club are nearby to host a reception, if necessary.

Bounce House Application Fee
Permits are required to have a Bounce House in any Azusa Park.
A small fee and proof of the Bounce House operator’s insurance
are necessary. Generator is required as City does not provide
electrical outlet for electricity.

YOUTH SPORTS
MIGHTY MITE BASKETBALL SUMMER LEAGUE
Open to children ages 5-8, Fee: $40
Registration begins May 2012, and is taken daily at Memorial Park, Monday-Thursday,
7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. League play begins July 2012. Fee includes NBA replica jersey, and
season ending banquet. The Mighty Mite program continues as children play once
again in the popular basketball program at Memorial Park. Practices are held in the
late afternoon and all games will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
evenings at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at Memorial Park.
MIGHTY MITE SOCCER
Registration begins June 4, 2012, and is taken daily at Memorial Park, Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. League play
begins week of August 13, 2012. Fee includes MLS replica uniform and season ending banquet. An eight team league will
be held at Zacatecas Park. The field, ball, and team size will be scaled down in an effort to teach the fundamentals of soccer to the children in a reduced-competitive atmosphere.
SUMMER YOUTH BASKETBALL
Registration is currently being taken daily at Memorial Park, Monday-Thursday,
7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Proof of age is required to register. Tryouts will be held
Thursday, June 28. No registration will be taken the day of tryouts. League
play begins Monday, July 9, 2012. Fee includes reversible mesh silk screened jersey and shorts, coaching, officials, and post season awards banquet. All practices
and games will be held on weekdays in the afternoon or evening at Memorial
Park Gym in the following age divisions:

AYP is a volunteer group of individuals whose goal is to assist the Azusa Recreation and Family Services Department in
providing quality activities and events to benefit the youth of Azusa. AYP is the sole sponsor of the Azusa Pony Baseball
Program, as well as many other Recreation and Family Services Department administered events. AYP is actively seeking
members to help on the board and general membership levels. AYP’s general membership meetings are held on the 2nd
Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Recreation Center. Call 812-5201 for more information.

Area busienss teams will race to build a kayak out of mystery materials and
then attempt to race their flotation device across the swimming pool at the
Azusa Aquatics Center.
Building begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the race at 11:00 a.m., and a special
“Free Swim Weekend” from 12:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. for all.

Green City parks with theme style and brightly colored playground equipment, clean public restrooms available for use
during your family picnic at our city parks, tree trimmers working to maintain the city’s urban forest, new picnic tables
with safe vandal-proof concrete cast tables, these are only some of the facilities and tasks that your Park Division maintains and improves as part of their contribution to a healthy community. Azusa Park Division’s contribution of well cared
for park space is a vital part of the Azusa history and tradition. Maintaining that tradition for our children and families is
the day in and day out mission behind the City of Azusa’s Park Division operation.

The City of Azusa Park Division is responsible for the overall maintenance of 61.20 acres of park land which includes 40.4
acres of turf area. The supervision of 5.5 miles of center medians on landscape maintenance contract and approximately
3.5 acres of landscape areas. The Park Division operation is a 13-man, 7-day a week operation.
TREES FOR AZUSA - ÁRBOLES PARA AZUSA
The City of Azusa’s Urban Forestry Management plan includes tree trimming on a 5-year grid trim cycle method. The goal
is to have every public tree trimmed at least once every five years. Should a public tree(s) need attention sooner for safety
reasons (such as vehicle, pedestrian, traffic signal and or traffic sign obstructions or for any other safety reasons identified
by the City’s Urban Forester) the tree will be addressed by the City. The City also offers a tree planting program. If your
business or residence has a vacant site, per our computerized tree inventory, and you request a tree(s), it will be planted at
the City’s expense. We only ask that you agree to water the tree(s). For additional information or to request any of the
services mentioned above, please contact the City’s Urban Forester at (626) 812-5260, voice mail is available. You can also

NUTRITIOUS HOT MEALS are served Monday at 11:30
a.m. and Tuesday-Friday at noon. 48-hour advance reservations are requested. The suggested donation for eligible
participants age 60+ and their spouses is $1.85 per meal.
This program is funded in part by Title III of the Older
American Act.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS are available to homebound
Azusa residents age 60+. These meals are delivered midday for a suggested donation of $1.85 and are funded in

Bingo at 1:00 p.m. $5 is the minimum buy-in for 10 games of

Atracciones: El Departamento de Recreación y Servicios Familiares invita a los jóvenes a un
ambiente seguro y divertido. El centra para Jóvenes esta localizado en el Centro de
Recreación Norte (NRC). Este centro incluye un salón de juegos con dos mesas de billar, un
futbolito y una televisión. El Centro de Recreación Norte incluye una cancha de baloncesto en

propio equipo de campar y artículos personales. Tiendas de campana y trailas son bienvenida. No se permitirá alcohol,

Costo de la Solicitud para un Castillo Para Brincar
Se debe adquirir un permiso para tener un brinca-brinca en
cualquier parque de Azusa. Es necesario pagar una
pequeña tarifa y presentar el comprobante de seguro del
operador del brinca-brinca. Se requiere un generador, la
ciudad no provee la electricidad.

BASQUETBOL MIGHTY MITE DE VERANO
Abierto para niños/as de edades 5-8, Costo: $40
Las inscripciones empiezan en mayo, 2012, y se efectuarán diariamente en el Parque
Memorial, lunes-jueves, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Los juegos empiezan en julio, 2012. El costo
incluye una replica de la camiseta de la Liga Mayor, y banquete al final de la temporada.
Las prácticas se llevarán acabo por las tardes y todos los juegos se realizarán los martes,
miércoles, y jueves por la tarde a partir de las 5:00 p.m. y algunos sábados por las mañanas
en el Parque Memorial.
FUTBOL SOCCER MIGHTY MITE
Las inscripciones empiezan el 4 de junio, 2012, y se efectuarán diariamente en el Parque Memorial, lunes-jueves, 7:00 a.m.5:30 p.m. Los juegos empiezan la semana del 15 de agosto, 2012. El costo incluye una replica del uniforme MSL y banquete al final de la temporada. Participará una liga de ocho equipos en el Parque Zacatecas. La cancha, el balón, el
numero de jugadores del equipo se reduciran para poder enseñar los fundamentos del fútbol soccer a los niños en una
atmósfera de competencia reducida.
BALONCESTO DE VERANO PARA JOVENES
Las inscripciones se efectuarán diariamente en el Parque Memorial, lunesjueves, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Se les pedirá comprobante de la edad del participante para poder inscribirse. Pruebas de clasificación se efectuaran el jueves 28
de junio. No se permitirán inscripciones el día de la prueba de clasificación,
no habrá excepciones. Los juegos de la liga empezarán el lunes 9 de julio,
2012. El costo incluye la camiseta estampada con el logo del equipo, entrenamiento, árbitros y la premiacion al final de la temporada. Todas las prácticas y
juegos se realizarán entre semana por las tardes o noches en el gimnasio del
Parque Memorial en las siguientes clasificaciones de edades:
División AA: jugadores nacidos en 1995-96-97
División A: jugadores nacidos en 1998-99
División B: jugadores nacidos en 2000-01
División C: jugadores nacidos en 2002 y después
PROGRAMA JUVENIL DE AZUSA, INC. (AYP por sus siglas en inglés)
AYP es un grupo de voluntarios cuya meta es la de ayudar al Departamento de Recreación y Servicios de Familia organizando actividades y eventos de calidad para el beneficio de los jóvenes de Azusa. AYP es el único patrocinador del
Programa de Béisbol Azusa Pony, al igual que patrocina otros eventos administrados por el Departamento de Recreación y
Servicios de Familia. AYP esta activamente reclutando miembros para asistir en la Junta Directiva y en los niveles generales de membresía. Las juntas generales de los miembros de AYP se realizan el segundo miércoles de cada mes a las

los sábados y domingos después de las 4:30 p.m. El costo de la reservación incluye los servicios de un salvavidas y el uso de los casilleros (lockers). Las reservaciones deben hacerse
al menos tres (3) semanas o 21 días antes de su evento, y la prioridad de reservar la piscina
va de acuerdo al orden en que se haya recibido la reservación.

Parques Verdes con áreas de juegos con colores mas brillantes, baños públicos limpios para su uso cuando vaya de picnic
con su familia, trabajadores apodan los árboles para mantener los bosques urbanos de la ciudad, y nuevas mesas para su
picnic protegidas por un molde de concreto ante-vandalismo, estas son algunas mejorías que hacen en los parques y
ofreciendo lo siguiente, como parte de su contribución para el bienestar de la comunidad. La Oficina de Parques de Azusa
provee mantenimiento a los parques conservándolos bien cuidados, de esta manera se contribuye a la preservación de la
parte vital de la historia y tradición de Azusa. El seguir con esta tradición para nuestros niños y familias es el lema diario
tras la Administración de la Oficina de Parques de la Ciudad de Azusa.
Las horas hábiles son de lunes a jueves, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., la oficina esta cerrada de viernes a domingo, teléfono
(626) 812-5259.
La Oficina de Parques de la Ciudad de Azusa es responsable por el mantenimiento total de 61.20 acres de zona de parques incluyendo 40.4 de césped. La Oficina también es responsable de supervisar 5.5 millas del contrato de mantenimiento de la zona verde en los divisores centrales de las vías y de aproximadamente 3.5 acres de áreas verdes. La Oficina de
Parques opera con 13 empleados, los siete días a la semana.
ÁRBOLES PARA AZUSA
El Plan del Manejo del Forestal Urbano de la Ciudad de Azusa incluye apodar los árboles en un método donde se podarán
los árboles distrito por distrito cada cuatro años. La meta es de apodar cada árbol público una vez cada cuatro años. Si un
árbol publico necesite atención mas pronto por razones de seguridad (tal como un vehiculo, persona, señal de trafico y/o
obstrucciones de señales de trafico o por cualquier otra razón de seguridad identificada por el Forastero Urbano) el árbol
será evaluado por la ciudad. Si su negocio o casa tiene un espacio vació por nuestro inventario computarizado de árboles
y usted pide un árbol, un árbol será plantado sin costo a usted. Solamente pedimos que usted este de acuerdo de regar el

El Centro da servicios y programas para adultos de 50
años y mayor. Venga a hacer nuevas amistades. Siempre
son bienvenidos.
Horas hábiles: lunes-jueves 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.,
viernes 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Accesible para personas discapacitadas.
Los residentes de Azusa de la edad de 60 años o más
pueden pedir transporte al Centro llamando a Azusa DialA-Ride al (626) 812-5206.
El Centro para Personas de la Tercera Edad pública mensualmente un boletín de cursos, de actividades especiales y
las que normalmente se ofrecen, el menú mensual, excursiones, etc. Usted puede recibir el boletín por correo por el
bajo costo de $5 al año. Si desea recibir por correo una
muestra gratis del boletín, llame al 812-5204.
COMIDAS CALIENTES NUTRITIVAS se sirven diariamente
lunes-viernes, el lunes a las 11:30 a.m. y martes a jueves a
las 12:00 p.m. (medio día). Se requiere hacer una reservación 48-horas antes. La donación sugerida para los participantes elegibles de la edad de 60 años y más es de
$1.85 por comida, por persona. Este programa es patrocinado en parte por la ley Titulo III del Older American Act.
COMIDAS ENTREGADAS A DOMICILIO es un servicio
disponible para personas confinados en casa de 60 años y
más. Estas comidas son entregadas a domicilio al mediodía por una donación sugerida de $1.85 y son patrocinadas en parte por la ley Titulo III del Older American Act.
SERVICIOS DE GERENCIA provee la asistencia individual
necesaria para ayudar a las personas de la tercera edad
con el objetivo de que mantengan su independencia en la
comunidad. Las familias pueden registrar a un ser querido
que padezca de demencia en el Programa del Regreso
Seguro de la Asociación Nacional Alzheimer.

El Club Golden Oaks se reúne cada jueves para jugar

BINGO – lunes a la 1:00 p.m., $5 para participar (Para
adultos mayores de 18 años)
Cada lunes empieza la diversión con un almuerzo a las 11:30
a.m. y Bingo a la 1:00 p.m. $5 le permitirá participar en 10
juegos de Bingo, $7 le compra dos paquetes de juegos.

AYUDA CON SU DECLARACION DE IMPUESTOS Y SOLICITUDES PARA UNA DEVOLUCION COMO
INQUILINO/PROPIETARIO: Tiene que hacer una cita para
que un voluntario capacitado (en cooperación con el
A.A.R.P), le ayude a llenar las solicitudes. Asistencia con su
declaración de impuestos se efectuará cada primavera a
principios de febrero hasta el 15 de abril. Asistencia para
Inquilinos/Propietarios se efectúa desde junio hasta agosto. Para más información o para hacer una cita, llame al

EXCURSIONES PARA LAS PERSONAS DE LA TERCERA
EDAD son coordinadas por el personal del Centro de las
Personas de la Tercera Edad. Se fijan aproximadamente
dos excursiones por mes y están enumeradas en el
boletín que el Centro pública mensualmente. El registro
para las excursiones nuevas se inicia el primer lunes de
cada mes. Se aceptan reservaciones en el momento del
pago (formas de pago: cheque o en efectivo). Se aceptarán
cheques enviados por correo en el orden que sean
recibidos.
