A Message From Fr. Roberto
Wake up to…Jesus; Wake up to…your Catholic faith; Wake up to…dropping your nets.
“Angels-in-Training” Babysitting at 10:30 Mass Every Week for children 2-6!
In the Serendipity Room beneath the rectory.
Are You an “Innie” or an “Outie”?
No, I am not talking about your belly button (if you have no idea what this
refers to just Google “innie or outie belly button”). I am talking about whether your
Catholic Faith is directed inwards or outwards. We just had a great evangelization
retreat experience last weekend. A team of 27 people from Sacred Heart Catholic
Parish in Boise, Idaho drove 10 hours in a caravan to put this retreat on for us – can
you imagine making that kind of sacrifice, taking that kind of time away from home
and work, sleeping in a stranger’s house, and working long, hard hours for people
you don’t even know? I certainly cannot. But these Sacred Heart parishioners do this
because they definitely have an “outie” faith – their faith is directed outward towards
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k7H70xC4b7A/
others. They have been touched by the Lord and they want to share what they have
UPL3r4yQQBI/AAAAAAAAAzc/-jLf2McfAL0/s1600/
experienced with others. They have been doing these retreats in their parish for 20
holy+spirit+image.jpg
years now and have gone as far as New York to put them on for other parishes. They
are a generous, joyful, humble and passionate group of people.
This retreat they led for us was a powerful experience of deepening our
Catholic faith, surrendering our lives to Jesus and being filled with the Holy
Spirit. Just talk to any of the 30 or 35 Holy Rosary parishioners who attended
the retreat, and they will tell you how touched they were. We all went to the
8:45 Mass last weekend, and I’m sure those of you who were at that Mass
could sense the energy and spirit of all those who participated in the retreat.
Now what we want to do at Holy Rosary is to put these retreats on for the rest
of our parishioners, so I invite you to join us for that retreat on the weekend of
October 3-5 if you want to have an amazing experience of God in your life.
http://justshineon.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/HS2.jpg
We all have the Spirit within us from our Baptism and Confirmation, but
so often we Catholics do not live out the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Feast of Pentecost reminds us just how powerful the Holy Spirit can be because it changed a group of fearful, doubting, uneducated and selfabsorbed followers of Jesus into dynamic, fearless and passionate disciples and preachers. After Pentecost, the apostles
were never the same. Do you dare ask God for that kind of experience in your life?
Are you an “innie” Catholic whose faith is all about you and your needs? Are you a “consumer Catholic” who
comes to church only when you feel like it just to get your needs met? Are you a Catholic who is simply maintaining the
status quo with no desire, energy or commitment to grow in your own faith and share it with others? It does not mean
you are a bad person or that God does not love you or that you are going to hell; but it does mean you are lukewarm, and
Jesus has some strong words for lukewarm Catholics:
“I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were
either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out
of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16).
God’s desire is for us to be “outie” Catholics whose faith is turned outward toward others. He wants us to be filled with passion for our faith and a sense of mission. Just last week, on
the feast of the Ascension, our Gospel ended with Jesus’ great commission to the apostles and to
all of us:
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).

So, let us be “outie” Catholics, not “innie” Catholics. Let us be Catholics with a mission. Let us light our own
lives and our world on fire for Jesus!

Despiértate a...Jesús; Despiértate a...tu fe católica; Despiértate a...dejar tus redes.
¿Hacia “Dentro" o Hacia Fuera”?
do.
uploads/2012/05/ven_espiritu_santo.jpg
dentro. Seamos católicos con una misión. ¡Encendamos con fuego a nuestras propias vidas y
a nuestro mundo para Jesús!

St. Vincent de Paul Food Drive
Our volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul need our help.
In order to keep up with the demands of our struggling
economy, they are asking for donations of specific
items each month to help restock their shelves to better
serve those in need. This ministry distributes food
every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from
9:00am to 10:00am at the Holy Rosary Gymnasium.
Each bag is identical and carefully packed with nonperishable items.
This month, they need the following items:
Pork & Beans 15oz.
Canned Corn 15oz.
Canned Green Beans 15oz.
Thank you for your continued support & generosity!
We appreciate your donations!
