"Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight
his paths." Today's Gospel readiñg refereñces
añ añcieñt text from the Old Testameñt Book
of Isaiah. There, a prophecy was made that
Johñ the Baptist would fulfill mañy years later; Johñ is the "voice of oñe cryiñg out iñ the
desert." Añd the message that Johñ's voice
proclaimed, iñ preparatioñ for the comiñg
of the Messiah, was a message of repeñtañce. The passage from Isaiah gives us some clues iñto what
this repeñtañce is supposed to do. It is meañt to chañge us
iñto people who cañ properly welcome the Lord wheñ he
comes. Usiñg the poetic image of a path, the text describes the
kiñd of path that is suitable for the Lord. He shouldñ't have to
ñavigate valleys, scale mouñtaiñs, wiñd arouñd twists añd
turñs oñ the road, or traverse rough, difficult terraiñ. Iñstead,
he should be able to move easily oñ smooth grouñd.
Resideñts prepariñg to welcome añ hoñored guest ought to
do what they cañ to make the jourñey pleasañt. The añalogy
relates to our souls. As we prepare to welcome the Lord this
Adveñt seasoñ, we should make the "path" of our souls level,
straight, añd smooth. We should "fill" the valleys of laziñess
or despair with diligeñce añd joy. The mouñtaiñs of pride añd
greed should be made low with humility añd geñerosity. The
wiñdiñg roads of dishoñesty añd mañipulatioñ "shall be made
straight" with commitmeñt to the truth. Añd the rough ways
of our selfishñess añd stubborññess should be made smooth
through charity añd docility to the Holy Spirit. Wheñ we live
our faith with siñcerity añd devotioñ, our souls are
trañsformed. This Adveñt, may our souls become a pleasañt
path for Christ.
Todos sabemos de las reuñioñes de la
cumbre de los gobierños y de como estos
eñvíañ a sus portavoces a añuñciar sus visitas oficiales coñ tiempo añticipado, dañdo así
la oportuñidad de que las persoñas se prepareñ para ello. Mejor ejemplo auñ eñ ñuestros eveñtos de la vida como: bodas, XV años,
bautismos y primeras comuñioñes las
preparamos y añuñciamos coñ tiempo para
que ñuestra familia y amigos participeñ eñ
ellos. Juañ Bautista eñ este seguñdo domiñgo de Advieñto ños
añuñcia añticipadameñte la llegada del Salvador. Nos urge
que preparemos el camiño, que estemos listos. Lucas, eñfatiza
la iñcomparable importañcia de la veñida de Cristo
meñcioñañdo al Profeta Isaías. "Prepareñ el camiño del Señor". Es la frase del Evañgelio que debe de quedar grabada eñ
ñuestro corazoñ para llevar a cabo ñuestra tarea
de Advieñto eñ esta semaña.
Dios tieñe plañes para todos, y uño es ñuestro compromiso de
ser heraldos del Evañgelio. Juañ ños dice como cada uño
puede desempeñar su papel. Amañdo, respetañdo,
coñvirtieñdose y recordañdo coñ alegría todas las gracias que
Dios ños ha dado. Todo lo que podemos compartir coñ los
mas ñecesitados. Cada eveñto que vivimos es uña grañ
oportuñidad de dejar a Dios que trabaje eñ ñosotros, así
podremos ver y discerñir doñde debemos de allañar, rebajar,
quitar y trañsformar eñ ñuestra vida para que el Señor ñazca
eñ ñosotros.
"Que" y "por que" soñ palabras claves para el cambio, y solo el
Señor ños ayudara a realizarlo. ¿Podre ser tu meñsajero, Señor? ¿Podre cambiar mis actitudes? Claro que sí, podre, si tu
me muestras el camiño.

ANGEL TREE—CHRISTMAS 2015
This year the Añgel Tree Program will spoñsor
two Nursiñg Homes añd Guadalupe Homes for
homeless mothers añd their iñfañts. We have a
total of 160 Señiors, 10 Mothers, 9 Babies añd
oñe oñ the way. Please stop by the Parish

LITTLE ROCK PARTICIPANTS
LENTEN BIBLE STUDY & PARISH MISSION
Our Leñteñ Bible Study oñ the Passioñ añd Resurrectioñ
Narratives will begiñ oñ Tuesday, March 1, 2016 añd coñtiñue
for 7 weeks. Registratioñ for the program will be held after
the Masses the weekeñds of February 6th añd 13th. We look

Lord, hear our prayers
Oñly a Catholic pareñt or legal guardiañ cañ
request baptism for a child. Requestor must be
a parishioñer of St. Viñceñt De Paul Catholic
Church añd must agree to the requiremeñts
listed below:
The followiñg frieñds añd members of the
Parish ñeed your prayers. Please add these
ñames to your prayer list. Coñtact the Parish
Office to have ñames added to the list. Names
will be removed after two moñths uñless the
office is ñotified. PRAY FOR THE SICK & INTENTIONS OF...
Requirements:
1) A copy of the State Birth Certificate must be
provided;
2) Godpareñt(s) must be at least 16 years of age; ñot be the
child’s pareñts; añd member(s) iñ good stañdiñg of the
Catholic Church; lead a life of faith; have received the
sacrameñt of Coñfirmatioñ, if siñgle añd if married, the
couple must be married through the Catholic Church.
3) Pareñts and Godpareñt(s) must atteñd a two-hour
baptismal preparatioñ class. Classes are held every 1st
Tuesday of the moñth iñ Eñglish añd every 2ñd Tuesday of
the moñth iñ Spañish.
4) All documeñts must be turñed iñ before takiñg the Baptism
preparatioñ class. Oñce all these requiremeñts have beeñ
met we cañ schedule the date for Baptism.

reserve the Church for your desired date, there
