MISSION STATEMENT
We, the Catholic community of Most Holy Trinity Parish, rich in
diversity, strive to achieve the unity that is the essence of God
and the heart of the Church. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we
are called to be faithful stewards of the apostolic tradition, to stir
into flame the gifts of God the Father, and to evangelize through
our action as witnesses to our Lord, Jesus Christ.
As an aid to comfort and strengthen the sick,
the sacrament is administered to those
advanced in years, those preparing for
surgery and those in danger of death. Contact
the parish office to make arrangements.
Sacrament of Holy Orders
Any Catholic male who feels that God may
be calling him to serve His people as a
deacon or priest, should talk to the pastor.

WORD
Amos 8:4–7
God cannot forget the sin of those who cheat the
poor.
Psalm 113
“Praise the Lord, who lifts up the poor.”
1 Timothy 2:1–8
Pray for everyone, not just your own.
Luke 16:1–13 or 16:10–13
You cannot be the servant of God and the servant of
money.
What an indictment in the first reading of those who are
wealthy and use that wealth to take advantage of the poor!
But then along comes Jesus, who points out that wealth
can be used for good ends as well. Jesus says that we cannot pretend that we don’t live in the world with others, so
we need to find ways to advance the reign of God using
the tools at our disposal. As we listen to today’s sacred
scriptures, what word do you hear God saying to you
about your possessions here and now and how God wants
you to use them?

PASTOR’S PAGE
Jubilee Year of Mercy
September 18, 2016
Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mercy is one thing, malpractice quite another.
Why, then, does the defrauded master in Jesus’ parable praise the devious steward? Jesus shows by example how to sanctify material goods: by placing all
our resources, indeed our very selves, at the service
of others. No matter how costly such service, or how
minimal the return, such charity is the wisest investment, yielding a reward that is literally out of this
world. For Amos and Jesus, authentic worship of
God demands practical charity toward our neighbor.
Paul, too, declares that the only worship acceptable
to God is offered by a community rich in charity. Liturgy must be matched to life, “lifting up holy hands,
without anger or argument” (1 Timothy 2:8). This
Jubilee Year of Mercy challenges us to live as
“children of light,” as devoted to self-sacrificing service as “the children of this world” (Luke 16:8) are
to serving themselves, as enthusiastic for God’s kingdom of justice as we are about less-enduring treasures.
Invitation to Focus Group
Discussions
Our parish is planning for the future and we would
very much like you to be a part of this! Over the last
few months, our Parish Pastoral Council has been
asking questions and listening to what is important to
parishioners. Finding ways to connect people of all
ages in this fast paced, ever-changing world is not as
easy as it was in the past. We hear in the media how
much people want to be part of a faith community
and become closer to God, but either what’s available
to them doesn’t meet their needs or they find it
difficult to add anything else to their already
demanding schedules.
This is our request to you … please consider joining
us in conversation with a small group of fellow
parishioners. We want to know how we can better
engage you, your friends, and family in our parish
community. For the purpose of this discussion, it
doesn’t matter if you attend church all the time or
rarely. We want to understand how to reach out to
more people. Your input is important to us.
Our hope is that you’ll share about 45 minutes of
your time for small group discussions following all
the Masses the weekend of September 24th-25th.
We ask that you sign-up as you leave Masses this
weekend or next weekend so that we can properly
plan to accommodate everyone. Please consider our
invitation and we look forward to being with you for
this discussion.
MHT Travel Opportunities

7:15PM.
Fr. Boyle will also lead a trip to Fatima and Lourdes
in 2017 as well. More information to follow.

“vanagloriarse… me vanaglorio…

In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the
Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
The world was a playground for Mickey,
a naive Irish American kid bored with
his life. His father served in World War
II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam;
now it was his turn. His 365 days in
Vietnam builds in torment until an
attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia.
Wounded, his friend captured, he
becomes a tormented survivor knowing
he is always just a heartbeat from death.
