Is God calling you to something more?
Come explore the Catholic Church!
If you are seventeen years of age or older and are: unbaptized, baptized in another faith community, or a baptized Catholic who has
never received your First Holy Communion, then the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is for you!
The next Inquiry gathering will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016
from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. These informal gatherings are structured to answer your questions about the
Catholic Church.
Contact Lynda Knoche at 281-450-1400 or by e-mail:
[email protected].
If you, your child or someone you know is between the ages of seven and sixteen, not baptized or baptized in another faith community,
we have an RCIA process suited to your age group. Inquiry sessions are every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Please schedule an appointment with Paul Stoessel via phone (281-494-1156) or e-mail
([email protected]) prior to attending your first session.

Cindy Burns
I was 5 years old the first
time I felt the desire to become a Catholic Christian.
This longing was a constant
part of me in the Protestant
communities in which I loved
and worshipped Christ. Several years ago I became a part
of an ecumenical, Catholicfounded, prayer community
that helped me grow closer in my relationships to
Jesus Christ, family, and friends. Most recently, I
earned a master's degree in theological studies from
HGST, a wonderfully diverse, ecumenical-Christian
graduate school. Making a long story short, this lifelong desire to become a Catholic Christian, along
with my Protestant Christian experiences integrated,
or culminated, within my education bringing me to
the realization that I can never un-know what I discovered about the history, tradition, and truth of the
Christian church.
On January 1, 2015 I made the decision to do whatever I needed to do to become a part of the Eucharistic community of believers instituted by Jesus. I
joined the RCIA group at St. Theresa's Catholic
Church. While under the leadership and guidance of
RCIA director Lynda Knoche, my sponsors Susan
Scheibner and Paula Birchfield, along with the wonderful RCIA team, I participated in an amazing,
Christian discipleship-spiritual formation process. I
had a long time to enjoy the blessings of RCIA while
I waited for an annulment decree. I thank God and
the Church for the annulment process because my
knowledge, faith, and understanding of the doctrines
and traditions of the Church matured during this
time. I feel that I have come home. I feel fully connected in a tangible way to God, the Holy Scriptures,
and the early Christian Church community through
the timeless teaching, practice, and commission of
Christ Jesus, that is, to "Love the Lord your God
with all your heart, soul, mind, body, and strength;
Love your neighbor as yourself; and Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." Praise and
thanks be to God, my life-long journey into the Catholic Church was celebrated in my Confirmation and
First Holy Communion on July 3, 2016!

The continued generosity of St. Theresa Parish allows us to provide limited financial and non-perishable food assistance to
those in need in our Parish and Sugar Land community. We appreciate the continued assistance and support of the St. Theresa

many individual parishioners that contribute to our needs.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light
shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their
souls, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the
mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of
those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, N.,
for whom we beg the aid of Thy loving mercy, that, with his
bodily health restored, he may give thanks to Thee in Thy
church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY TIME
O G , who have prepared for those who love you
good things which no eye can see, fill our hearts,
we pray, with the warmth of your love, so that,
loving you in all things and above all things,
we may attain your promises,
which surpass every human desire.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
“I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!”
