ACCOMODATION
In ANGALIA we have charming bungalows perfectly integrated in the breathtaking landscape.
All our constructions are built with makuti roof (palm leave) and Tanga stone, commonly used in
Tanzanian traditional constructions, and are equipped with individual bathrooms accessible
from the interior. Everything has been designed to comfortably enjoy wild nature.
BAR- RESTAURANTE “BARAZANI”
The perfect place to relax with your favourite drink. If you prefer you can enjoy it by the camp
fire. To eat we recommend Swahili dishes like pilau (rice with spices) or wali wa nazi (coconut
rice). You will love discovering African cooking, but we also have great Mediterranean cuisine.
Our dishes are elaborated with fresh products from solidary farming projects
Barazani is where the elders meet. It may be under a tree, but it is also how the Council of
Ministers is called. It is also the living room of the Swahili homes.

In Angalia we strongly believe in respect for the environment both in natural and social dimensions. So in addition to not disturbing the ecosystem of the National Park, we support local
development initiatives such as those carried out by Agrónomos sin Fronteras Foundation.

En ANGALIA disponemos de acogedoras cabañas que se integran a la perfección en el impresionante
paisaje. Todas nuestras construcciones tienen techo de makuti (hoja de palma) y piedra de Tanga,
comúnmente utilizados en la construcciones tradicionales tanzanas. Disponen de baño individual accesible
desde el interior. Todo está pensado para que disfrutes cómodamente de la naturaleza más salvaje.
BAR- RESTAURANTE “BARAZANI”
El lugar ideal para relajarte con tu bebida favorita. Si prefieres puedes tomarla junto al fuego de campamento. Para comer te recomendamos platos suajilis como el pilau (arroz con especias) o el wali na nazi
(arroz con coco). Te encantará descubrir la cocina africana, aunque también tenemos una estupenda
cocina mediterránea. Ambas están elaboradas con productos procedentes de proyectos agrícolas
solidarios.
Barazani es el lugar donde los ancianos/sabios se encuentran. Puede ser debajo de un árbol, aunque
también se llama así el consejo de ministros o el cuarto de estar de las casas.

HOW TO GET THERE
WHAT TO DO AROUND
ANGALIA TENTED CAMP is located in the green belt of Mikumi National Park.
Coming from Dar es Salaam by the A-7 heading south, about 800 meters from the
park exit you have to deviate by the path that goes left, where there is a sign of
ANGALIA TENTED CAMP. Once there, for the mile remaining to reach the camp
you will find several signs. There we will be waiting for you.
Mikumi National Park
ANGALIA is located in the Green belt of Mikumi, its savannah landscape dotted
with acacias, baobabs, tamarinds and palms is often compared with the
Serengeti plains. It is easy to see elephants, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes,
antelopes, buffalos, big cats such as lions and leopards, reptiles and a variety of
birds.

CÓMO LLEGAR
ANGALIA TENTED CAMP se encuentra en el cinturón verde del Parque Nacional de Mikumi.
Si vienes por la A-7 desde Dar es Salaam en dirección Sur, a unos 800 metros de la garita
de salida del parque tienes que desviarte por el camino que sale a la izquierda, donde hay
un cartel de ANGALIA TENTED CAMP. Una vez allí encontrarás varias señales durante el
kilómetro y medio que falta para que llegues al campamento. Allí te esperamos.
Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Just 60 km from Angalia are Udzungwa Mountains, the second most bio diverse
national park in Africa. Udzungwa is part of a chain of mountains called the
Eastern Arc, also known as the African Galapagos for the great variety of
endemic species that it treasures. Its forest is exuberant and magical, with trees
over 30 meters high interlaced with lichens, mosses and ferns, barely letting in
the sunshine. A paradise for hikers.

ANGALIA está situado en el cinturón verde del Mikumi, el cuarto parque nacional de

A solo 60 Km de ANGALIA se encuentran las Montañas de Udzungwa, el segundo
parque nacional con mayor biodiversidad de África. Udzungwa es parte de una cadena
montañosa llamada el Arco Oriental, conocida también como el Galápagos Africano por
la gran variedad de especies endémicas que atesora. Su bosque es exuberante y mágico,
con árboles de más de 30 metros de altura entrelazados con líquenes, musgos y helechos,

the best places in the world to observe wildlife. Its national parks are an amazing
and exciting show: lions, leopards, elephants and giraffes, zebras and wildebeest,
impalas and gazelles, hippos and rhinos, buffalos, reptiles and birds of all sizes
and colours, in their natural habitat.

TIPS TO PREPARE THE TRIP
Your health
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory when travelling to Tanzania. Other vaccines
are suggested depending on the places you are visiting and the length of stay in
the country. Malaria prophylaxis is also recommended. Visit the International
Vaccination Centre in your area with at least one month before the intended date
of travel.
If you take any medication regularly you should bring all you are going to need
during the trip.
It is advised to sleep always under the mosquito net and to use a mosquito
repellent, especially at dusk and sunrise.
Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, but remember that you cannot drink
the tap water. Consume only bottled or canned beverages without ice.
Outside the hotels is not advisable to eat unpeeled fruit, salads and vegetables that
are not cooked.
Always use sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
We recommend that you contract travel insurance and additionally the Flying
Doctors’ emergency evacuation insurance, with which you will be contributing to
the social work of the major African health NGO

CONSEJOS PARA PREPARAR EL VIAJE
Tu salud
Para viajar a Tanzania es obligatorio vacunarse de la fiebre amarilla, pero además se
recomiendan otras vacunas en función del lugar y el tiempo de estancia en el país. Se
aconseja también la profilaxis de la malaria. Visita el centro de Vacunación Internacional de
tu localidad con al menos un mes de antelación a la fecha prevista de viaje.
Si tomas habitualmente algún medicamento es conveniente que traigas la cantidad
suficiente que vayas a necesitar durante el viaje.
Se aconseja dormir siempre bajo la mosquitera y utilizar algún repelente anti mosquitos,
especialmente al anochecer y al amanecer.
Bebe abundantemente agua para prevenir la deshidratación, pero recuerda que no se
puede beber el agua del grifo, así que consume sólo bebidas embotelladas o enlatadas y
sin hielo.
Fuera de los hoteles no es recomendable comer fruta sin pelar, ensaladas ni verduras que
no estén cocinadas.
Utiliza siempre protector solar, gafas de sol y gorra o sombrero.

Depending on the season it can be quite cool, especially if you go to the North of

Fly to Tanzania
There are many airlines that fly to Dar es Salaam: KLM, Egyptair, Turkish Airlines,
Qatar Airways, Emirates, Kenyan Airways… Prices vary considerably depending
on the season, so if you are able to travel in low season your pocket will thank
you. You will also save if you get your ticket in advance.
The visa
A visa is required for most nationalities and can be obtained from the Immigration
Office at the international airports of Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro, as well as in
all of the entry borders, if you arrive by land.

Change money
The Tanzanian currency is the Tanzanian shilling (TZS). You can pay in dollars in
most of the hotels, but take shillings for the rest of the payments.
Usually, the best change is the one you get in the bureaux de change in the city

ATMs
There are plenty of ATMs in major cities, but once out, things get complicated. The
exchange rate of ATMs is not bad, but transaction fees are usually quite high, with
the drawback that the maximum that can be drawn in each operation is 400,000
TZS (about 200 Euros, depending on the exchange rate).
CAJEROS AUTOMÁTICOS
Hay bastantes cajeros en las principales ciudades, pero una vez fuera de ellas la cosa se
complica. El tipo de cambio de los cajeros no está mal, pero las comisiones por cada
operación suelen ser bastante altas, con el inconveniente de que lo máximo que se puede
sacar en cada operación son 400.000 TZS (unos 200 Euros, según el tipo de cambio).
CREDIT CARDS
The use of credit cards is not widely spread and, although they are accepted in
many hotels, they often charge an additional percentage for paying with them.
