Alfonso X El Sabio University, in cooperation with Berg International
Relations Institute is organizing the 5th Edition of the Human Rights
and International Relations Summer Programme titled Human Rights,
Sustainability and Democracy in Europe, July 2011. The programme
will be held between July 10th and 22nd at the European Academy of
Otzenhausen (Saarbrücken-Germany) through different institutional
visits to The Hague (the Netherlands), Belgium (Brussels), Germany
(Trier-Otzenhausen) Luxembourg and France (Strasbourg).
This Otzenhausen Summer Academy on Human Rights and
International Relations programme was founded in 2003 by
Dr/Professor Emiliano García Coso JD, lecturer at the Universidad
Pontificia Comillas-ICADE, and Professor Joaquín González Ibáñez JD
at Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid, with the aim of providing
a perspective on Human Rights, the Rule of Law and Democracy into
the European integration process.
The programme offers an extraordinary opportunity for both pupils and
professors from Europe and America, to get closer to the history and
European legal evolution within the area of human rights during late
90’s; from the First World War to our days, including debates and visits
to the most relevant European legal institutions, such as the European
Parliament, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the
European Court of Human Rights of the Council of Europe. The
programme also offers the opportunity to experience historical places
first hand, such as the Maginot Line, built during the First World War,
or the concentration camp at Natzweiler-Struthof, from the Second
World War, as well as the major/key/fundamental legal institutions of
the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights,
together with the European Union institutions such as the Parliament,
the Commission and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Spanish will be the working language during the programme.
Whenever lecturers present their conferences either in English or
French, these will be simultaneously interpreted into Spanish.
This programme has generated an important forum for debate,
enhanced awareness, and the defence of human rights. It is one of the
most renowned summer programmes for those interested in the field
of international relations and human rights. The programme is aimed
at postgraduates and last year/senior/ students in Law, Political
Science, International Relations, Economy, History, Journalism, and
Translation and Interpreting

Nota sobre desplazamientos en el inicio en Bruselas y tras el fin del
programa en Otzenhausen/Footnote on the transportation from Brussels

Los participantes en el Programa Académico de Otzenhausen se desplazan desde
diversos países de América Latina y en España desde diferentes provincias y
ciudadades. Los alumnos participantes en el programa deben organizar y realizar
personalmente sus reservas y programa de viaje (Transportes aéreos, ferrocarril o
desplazamiento en automóvil, etc.,) hasta la ciudad de inicio del curso, La Haya, y
de este modo llegar el domingo, día 10 de julio de 2011 para realizar el registro y
acreditación en el curso.
Los aeropuertos más próximos a La Haya es el aeropuerto de La Haya-Amsterda
Schiphol y el aeropuerto de Rotterdam .El curso concluye el día 22 de julio 2010,
viernes y hay previsto un autobús para trasladar a los alumnos al aeropuerto de
Frankfurt International.
The participants in the Academic Program of Otzenhausen come from different
countries from Latin America and from different provinces and cities in Spain. The
student participating in the program must organize and personally carry out their
bookings and journey program (aerial transportation, train or automobile, etc.) to
La Haya (where the course will begin) so as to arrive on Sunday, July 10th , 2011
so as to make reservations and accreditations for the course.
The airports closest to The Hague are The Hague-Amsterdam-Schiphol, and
Rotterdam airport. The course will end on july 22nd 2011, on Friday, and there will
be a bus to transport the students to Frankfurt International airport.
