No me gusta + infinitivo … = I don’t like to (any verb). EXAMPLES: Me gusta estudiar español. Me gusta bailar con chicas bonitas. No me gusta nadar. I don’t like to swim. How to say someone likes or does not like something (noun) The indefinate article “the” must come before the noun that you like or do not like, even if you do not say “the” in the sentence when translated into English. You use gusta for singular nouns, and gustan for plural nouns. Follow the chart below: Singular Noun Plural Nouns Me gusta+ el + noun Me gustan + los + noun Me gusta + la + noun Me gustan + las + noun Examples: Me gustan los tacos. A José le gusta el verano. ¿Te gustan los perros? Me gusta la casa blanca. I like tacos. José likes summer. Do you like dogs? I like the white house. #2: Pronouns In English, to say who is doing something, you can use either the person's name, title, or a pronoun. Some English pronouns are I, you, he, she, we, they. In Spanish, to say who is doing something, you can use either the person’s name, title or a pronoun. The Spanish pronouns are listed in the chart below. Iyou - Singular yo tú he él she ella it you - usted / Ud. Plural we nosotros / nosotras you guys vosotros / vosotras they - ellos they - ellas you - ustedes / Uds. In Spanish, the pronoun is not required except to clarify or emphasize. The ending on the verb indicates who the subject is. See verb conjugation below. #3: Verb Conjugation All of the verbs in this unit end with ar. This is the infinitive form of the verb. Examples: bailar (to dance), cantar (to sing), pintar (to paint). The ar translates as “to”. This ending is changed to indicate who is doing the action.
