Each year we take up a collection for Catholic Charities (CCEB). Would you like to see up-close and personal how your money is being spent? It will amaze you what they are able to do and how many hundreds of people are helped by your donation. So why not take a tour? It was one of the best tours I’ve taken, and it is NOT a sales job! They don’t ask for money or commitments; they ask for prayer. The tour is only one hour and is time well-spent! The next tour in Oakland is September 20 at 12 noon. To reserve a place on the tour you can contact Sween Gardner at 510 768-3161 or email her at [email protected] Refugee Program In partnership with Catholic Charities of The East Bay, and in response to our Bishop's call in The Year of Mercy, St. Edward will be sponsoring a refugee family. Our parish will help Catholic Charities assist the family in making a home in the East Bay. At this time we are asking you to consider how you may help with this endeavor. We will need cash donations to cover expenses. In addition, we will need beds, sofas, tables, chairs, lamps, and dressers. We will also need sheets and blankets, towels, dishes, pots and pans, and appliances. If you have any of these items in GOOD working condition that you would like to donate, please start assembling them at your home. Due to storage limitations, we ask that you do not bring them to the church at this time. You will hear more about this in the coming weeks. If you are interested in participating, please contact Mary Elizabeth Eckstein@ [email protected] or 510-364-8396. You may view a short video of a refugee family recently sponsored by St. Raymond Parish @ www.cceb.org and click "Welcoming Refugees" Bereavement Support Group Our Deanery support group will meet for 10 weeks starting Sunday, Sep. 18th from 2:30-3:30 in the Fireside Lounge at Holy Spirit Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd. You are invited to attend all or part of the sessions.
