From our Pastor...
Happy Feast of the Holy Family! We pray today for our family of origin, for our
spouse and children, and for the future generations of our families. Please take
some time to read and meditate on these beautiful quotations, a gift for your
family:
Authentic married love is caught up into divine love and is directed and enriched by the redemptive
power of Christ and the salvific action of the Church, with the result that the spouses are led to God
and are helped and strengthened in their lofty role as fathers and mothers.
- Vatican II. Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World
The family is the place where different generations come together and help one another to grow in
wisdom and harmonize the rights of individuals with other demands of social life; as such it constitutes
the basis of society.
- Vatican II. Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World
The family has the mission to guard, reveal, and communicate love, and this is a living reflection of and
a real sharing in God's love for humanity and the love of Christ the Lord for the Church, his bride.
- Saint John Paul II, On the Family
The very experience of communion and sharing that should characterize the family's daily life
represents its first and fundamental contribution to society.
- Saint John Paul II, On the Family
Joys and sorrows, hopes and disappointments, births and birthday celebrations, wedding
anniversaries of the parents, separations and homecomings, important and far-reaching decisions, the
death of those who are dear -- all of these mark God's loving intervention in the family's history.
- Saint John Paul II, On the Family
Thanks to love within the family, the Church can and ought to take on a more homelike and family
dimension, developing a more human and fraternal style of relationships.
- Saint John Paul II, On the Family
The family itself is the great mystery of God. As the "domestic church" it is the bride of Christ.
- Saint John Paul II, Letter to Families
What you do in your family to create a community of love, to help each other to grow, and to serve
those in need is critical, not only for your own sanctification but for the strength of society and our
Church. It is a participation in the work of the Lord, a sharing in the mission of the Church. It is holy.
- U.S. Catholic Bishops, Follow the Way of Love
A family is holy not because it is perfect but because God's grace is at work in it, helping it to set out
anew everyday on the way of love.
- U.S. Catholic Bishops, Follow the Way of Love
In Christ,
Pastor

Celebrate the Birth of our Lord by making a
year end gift to Christ the King.
Are you considering a year end gift? Where is your heart
called to give? We have received the greatest gift of our Lord
and know as His disciples that “Wherever your treasure lies,
there your heart will be.”
Luke 12:32-48
CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Share a gift from your heart through your tithe, a gift to the
Christ the King Catholic School Endowment or the
St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine Endowment Fund.

The 5 Year Celebration Continues…
Thanks be to God for the continuing year end support of the Saint Peregrine Cancer Shrine Endowment Fund!
The Endowment Fund began the year with a balance of $269,043.18. The Endowment Fund balance as of
December 15, 2014 is $302,218.84. We continue to send endowment gift dollars to the Catholic Community
Foundation and add to this balance weekly.
Help us bring the endowment balance to $310,000.00 before the close of the year; an additional $7,781.16. Has
someone in your family been affected by cancer? Are you being called to give thanks to God for the gift that the
Shrine has been to you or someone that you love? Please prayerfully consider making a gift that ensures the
continued growth of the Saint Peregrine Cancer Shrine Endowment Fund as we build the fund toward a 2 million
dollar balance! Thank you!
We continue to encourage gifts through the end of the year. Every $100 donation generates a raffle ticket for a
$2,000 US Airways Travel Voucher. There are many ways to make your gift; Two of the easiest and most convenient
methods are through the use of the Kiosk in the back of the church, or online through the Shrine website.
The Giving Kiosk is located on the north wall of the church lobby.
Use of the kiosk is very simple:
1. Choose your gift amount.
2. Choose whether this is a one-time or recurring gift.
3. Swipe your credit or debit card.
The St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine website is: www.cancershrine.org
Donation cards may also be found at the back of the church next to the Kiosk. Please follow the directions on the
card if this is your desired method of giving.
At this time of the year we reflect on the gift of Christ to the world. We humbly acknowledge that all gifts come
through Him and we are thankful for the opportunity to do the work of the Universal Church through the ministry
of the St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine. We, as a community, pray with gratitude that we are able to bring strength for
the journey to our brothers and sisters struggling with cancer.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, who wills not the death of a sinner but rather that he be converted and live,
grant we beseech You through the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
Saint Joseph her spouse, Blessed Junipero Serra, and all the saints,
an increase of laborers for Your Church, to spend and consume themselves for souls.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Entrance Antiphon Luke 2: 16
The shepherds went in haste, and found Mary
and Joseph and the Infant lying in a manger.
Away in a Manger Traditional
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my cradle ‘til morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven to live with thee there.

The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible
and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the
Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten,
not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men
and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of
the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he
suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the
Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I
believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the
Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the
forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the
world to come. Amen.
What Child Is This
Greensleeves/William C. Dix, Arr. Sir John Stainer
What child is this who laid to rest, on Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, while shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, the babe the son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate, where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear, for sinners here the silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce him through the cross be borne for me for you:
Hail, hail, the Word made flesh, The babe the son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh, come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of Kings salvation brings, let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise, the song on high, The Virgin sings her lullaby;
Joy, Joy, for Christ is born, The babe, the son of Mary.
Communion Antiphon Baruch 3: 38
Our God has appeared on the earth, and lived among us.
Emmanuel
Reuben Morgan © 2005 Hillsong Publishing
Holy, holy, I will bow before, My Lord and King
Hallelujah, You have come to us, You make all things new
Emmanuel, Jesus Christ, You’ll never let me go
My Shepherd King, You’re watching over me, Emmanuel
So amazing, You have named the stars of the deepest night,
Still You love me, You have called my name, I will follow You
Holy, Holy, God Almighty
There is none like You
Ordinary Holiness Julie & Tim Smith ©1991 Troubadour
Ordinary holiness in the sacred day‑to‑day, where we live and love and labor,
As we gather here to pray. Humble God of all simplicity help every heart prepare
And heed the call to holiness and hear the call to prayer.
Kitchen table gospel is lived in every home,
Where families take the time to kneel and pray.
Fathers who encourage and mothers who embrace,
Friends who listen carefully reveal God's loving face.
Voices that are gentle, words that welcome home,
Meals that feed the body and the soul.
Honoring the family and cherishing each life.
Strengthening the sacrament of husband and wife.
Sharing freely from our hearts, what little we may have,
Doing for today the best we can.
A single parent's courage, a widow strong in grief,
Walking through the dark and doubt with hope and belief.
Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine Traditional
Joseph dearest, Joseph mine, help me rock the Child divine;
God reward thee and all that’s thine in Paradise, so prays the mother Mary.
Today is born Emmanuel; Emmanuel in Israel:
Mary’s Babe, the Saviour, our Emmanuel.
Gladly dear one, lady mine, I will rock this child of thine;
God’s own light on us both shine in paradise, as prays the mother Mary.
Sweet and lovely little one, princely, beautiful, God’s own son.
Without thee were we all undone: Our love is won by thine, O Son of Mary.
Go, Tell It On The Mountain Traditional
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.
While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night,
Behold throughout the heavens, there shone a holy light:
The shepherds feared and trembled, when lo! above the earth,
Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Savior's birth:
Down in a lowly manger our humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation, that blessed Christmas morn.
Please take the worship aide home if you would like!
If not, please return it to the entrance of the church.
