amigo persistente.
Como sucede con frecuencia en el Evangelio de Lucas, “Jesús estaba orando” (Lucas
11:1) cuando respondió a la petición de un discípulo con una oración
reverentemente íntima —“Padre, santificado sea tu nombre” (11:2)— y además
persistentemente práctica. Como Abraham hoy en la historia del Génesis, un vecino
inoportuno persevere pidiendo pan, el pan que Jesús le acaba de enseñar a los
discípulos cómo pedir en oración. El vecino no pide para sí, sino para su amigo
hambriento. Así es que, forzado a escoger entre molestar a un amigo que duerme
plácidamente o dar de comer a un hambriento, este buen samaritano persistente,

Lucas enseña que la perseverancia en la oración obtiene el don del pan, algo que
nos recuerda la expresión única de Lucas para referirse a la Eucaristía: “partir el
pan”. Qué maravillosamente, por tanto, se unen el Día Mundial de la Juventud de
san Juan Pablo II, el Año Jubilar de la Misericordia del Papa Francisco y el Evangelio
de Jesús, para definir el discipulado cristiano: comunión constante con Dios y
misericordia incondicional hacia nuestro prójimo.

school supplies for the backpack kids
program. Most retailers have a list of
required school supplies near their
school supplies display. Wanted
items include:

crayons, #2 pencils, loose leaf paper,
glue sticks, scissors, etc. There will
be bins set up in the vestibule to

One of our parishioners,
Tricia Schmidt, recently celebrated a birthday, though, we
won’t disclose her age. When asked by family and friends
what she would like for her birthday, she asked that they give a
donation to Corpus Christi Assistance Ministry
Extended Hours Begin
Our extended hours for
Eucharistic Adoration begins
on Wednesday, August 3rd.
The Monstrance with the Eucharist will be on
display each Wednesday after the 12:15 Mass
until Thursday Morning at 8:00 am. A posted
schedule will be in the church vestibule before
July 31st. Check your time slot and mark your
calendar.
