Message from Msgr. Schwanger
My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
I congratulate and thank all of our parish family for a beautiful
celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and for all the hard
work and good spirit that went into one of our most successful
Festivals ever. Our celebrations are as beautiful as they are because
they are truly efforts of the whole parish family. If you would like to
join in next year’s effort just send me an email at msgr@ololourdes.
org – we will have a great kick-off party in August or early September.
As I mentioned, the carnival was a terrific success. This year we had
to close early on Saturday evening due to bad weather but we took full
advantage of the good days that we had. The net income from this
year’s festival was $161,000 which makes it the second highest income
for a festival. We saw increased participation in almost every area and
I thought the level of cooperation and support throughout the Festival
was exceptional. The number of sponsors who want to support us
continues to grow. They gave us a big boost and I encourage everyone
to thank and support them as well.
What will we do with that money? Our normal budgeting practice is
to use the weekly collection to cover our regular operating expenses.
This year, however, we will have to use some of this money to cover
what we owe the Archdiocese of Miami for last year’s assessment. In
addition we will use the funds for our Livestreaming efforts.
They have already begun and we will continue to improve and upgrade
the service. It is impressive how many people have already seen the
Mass through our Livestreaming. Check us out and share the good
news! Finally, we also use some funds each year to support our
Lourdes to Lourdes effort. As you know we cover ½ of the cost for
our youth to do service at Lourdes. We are also beginning to offer ½
support for those who are sick among us but do not have the financial
resources to make the journey with us to Lourdes.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
Felicito y agradezco a toda nuestra familia parroquial por una hermosa
celebración de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y por todo el
trabajo duro y el buen espíritu que sucedió en uno de nuestros más
exitosos Festivales de la historia. Nuestras celebraciones son tan bellas
como son, porque son realmente los esfuerzos de toda la familia
parroquial. Si desea unirse en el esfuerzo del año que viene me puede
enviar un correo electrónico a [email protected] - tendremos una
gran fiesta de inicio en agosto o principios de septiembre.
Como ya he mencionado, el carnaval fue un éxito fenomenal. Este año
tuvimos que cerrar temprano el sábado por la noche debido al mal
tiempo, pero nos aprovechamos de los buenos tiempos que tuvimos.
El resultado neto del festival de este año fue de $161,000 que le hace
el segundo Festival en la historia más alto en ingresos. Vimos una
mayor participación en casi todas las áreas y pienso que el nivel de
cooperación y apoyo durante el Festival fue excepcional.
El número de patrocinadores que quieren apoyarnos continúa
creciendo. Nos dieron un gran impulso y animo a todos a darles
las gracias y apoyarlos a ellos también. ¿Qué vamos a hacer con ese
dinero? Nuestra práctica normal de presupuesto es utilizar la colecta
semanal para cubrir nuestros gastos ordinarios de funcionamiento.

Este año, sin embargo, tendremos que utilizar parte de este dinero para
cubrir lo que debemos a la Arquidiócesis de Miami de la evaluación
del año pasado. Además vamos a utilizar los fondos para nuestros
esfuerzos de trasmisión en vivo. Ya han comenzado y vamos a seguir
mejorando y actualizando el servicio. Es impresionante la cantidad
de personas que ya han visto la Misa a través de nuestra trasmisión
en vivo.
¡Chequéenos y comparta la buena noticia! Por último, también
utilizamos algunos fondos cada año para apoyar nuestro esfuerzo de
Lourdes a Lourdes. Como saben cubrimos la mitad de los costos para
nuestros jóvenes ir a servir a Lourdes. También estamos empezando
a ofrecer la mitad en apoyo a los que están enfermos entre nosotros,
pero no tienen los recursos financieros para hacer el viaje con nosotros
a Lourdes.
La belleza del Festival es que mientras es una alegre celebración
en honor a Nuestra Señora y a nuestra familia parroquial es
también nuestra mayor recaudación de fondos. Todo esto beneficia
directamente nuestros esfuerzos de llevar a Cristo y Su vida a nuestros
hermanos y hermanas aquí en Miami.

Archbishop Wenski’s Priesthood

Archbishop Wenski will be celebrating his 40th Anniversary of his Priesthood Ordination.
Our Parish will offer him 40 hours of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament for his intentions as our
anniversary gift. The 40 hours Devotion will begin with a prayer service on Friday, May 27 at 2:00am
in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes. Ministries and all parishioners are invited to offer an hour of
prayer and singing if they wish, for the Archbishop.
Please contact Msgr. Schwanger or Cristina Fernandez if you want to
offer prayer as a group and help us give this gift to the Archbishop.

Usted está invitado a participar de la Feria Anual de Ministerios de
Nuestra Señora de Lourdes que se llevará a cabo después de
cada misa los días Mayo 14 y Mayo 15.
Venga a ver cómo el Señor le llama a donar su Tiempo, Dones y
Tesoro para construir el Reino de Dios. Usted tendrá oportunidad de
aprender sobre los diferentes ministerios y seleccionar aquél donde
pueda contribuír a desarrollar nuestra comunidad de Fe.

Notre Dame de Lourdes qui aura lieu après chaque messe le 14
Mai et le 15 Mai. Venez voir comment le Seigneur vous appelle à
utiliser vos dons de temps, de talent et trésor pour construire son
royaume.
Vous aurez l’occasion d’en savoir plus sur les différents ministères
et choisir celui oú vous pourrez vous engager pour construire notre
communauté de foi.

Dia de Las Madres
Se ofrecerá una bendición especial a los niños en
el vientre y a sus familias en todas las Misas del
domingo, 8 de mayo – Dia de las Madres.
Para honrar a todas las madres, abuelas, madrinas
y cualquier mujer que haya desempeñado un
papel de mamá en su vida, estamos ofreciendo
la Novena que comenzará el día de las Madres.
Utilice los sobres disponibles en la entrada de
la iglesia para escribir el o los nombres que se
agregarán a la lista sobre las que se orará
durante la Novena.
Mother’s Day
A special blessing will be offered to the children
in the womb and their families, at all Masses on
Sunday, May 8th - Mother’s day.
To honor all mothers, grandmother, godmother
or any woman who played a motherly role in your
life, we are offering a Novena that will begin on
Mother’s day. Use the envelopes available at
all entrances to write down the name(s) to be
added to the list we will pray for during the
Nine Holy Masses.
