Elastic strains and gauge fields in suspended graphene
Elastic strains and gauge fields in suspended graphene Gladys León Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientı́ficas, Cantoblanco, 28049 Madrid, Spain We study the effect of elastic deformations in the electronic structure of graphene, in particular, in suspended graphene samples. Such elastic strains lead to an effective magnetic field that can reach a few Tesla in sub-micron wide flakes. We are interested in the interplay between these effective fields and the external magnetic field that takes place in the Quantum Hall regime.
