What is Lectio Divina?
“There are many kinds of Christian meditation, but abov e all is
listening to God through the scriptures, ruminating on the
Word, a deep conv ersation of hearing and responding. In
meditation we read not just f or inf ormation; we probe, ponder,
and explore so that the words of Scripture become f or us the
Word of God in our liv es. …
There is another lev el of meditativ e scripture reading: to ask,
“What is it say ing to me? Does the text hav e a ‘word’ f or me in
this day and time?”
These words f rom E. Glenn Hinson in The Mind of Christ
express beautif ully what happens when we meet f or Lectio
Div ina. Using the 4 R’s of Read, Ref lect, Respond, Rest, we
f ocus on the Gospel Reading f or the f ollowing Sunday . We
meet at 7:00 PM at the Parish Center (PC3) on the second and
f ourth Wednesday nights of the month.
Please join us f or an ev ening to see if Lectio Div ina is a way f or
