MAP Testing Begins: On April 14th we will begin our Spring MAP Testing. This is our final MAP testing and it is very
important that your scholar is not absent during testing. Please reach out to your scholar’s teacher to find out
specific dates of testing.
College Shirt and JEAN Day: This Friday will be a College Shirt and Jean day for all scholars. Scholars who wish to
participate must bring a $1 for Jeans and $2 to wear a college shirt and jeans. All funds will go towards Teacher
Appreciation Week!
VIP Meetings: We have 2 VIP Meetings left for the school year! Please save the dates for April 28th and May 12th. All
parents who attend VIP will receive a Jeans Pass for their scholar! At our next VIP meeting on 4/28 we will be
discussing and planning priorities for the next school year. We’d love to see you there!
Lemonade Day: This spring, all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will have the opportunity to participate in a program that helps
students learn the skills necessary to start their own business. Scholars will work in groups to create a business plan
for a lemonade stand, present their plan to a representative from Bank of America, and receive a loan to start their
business. Scholars will then sell their product on Lemonade Day to earn back the money for their loan, plus a profit!

Day on the following dates—

4th grade—May 17th


PYP PROGRAM: INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Learner Profile Focus of the Week: PRINCIPLED
Students who are PRINCIPLED have a sense of fairness and are honest with themselves and with others. They understand that sometimes
there are rules and they follow them. They have an understanding of moral reasoning.
How can parents help to develop students who are Principled at home?






Involve your child in deciding on the rules for a game or activity and then ensure that they stick to the ones that have been decided
upon.
Encourage your child to play games that involve teams. Discuss with your child the qualities of a team player. What sort of person
would they want on their team?
When your child wins a game insist that he or she is a well-mannered winner. They might thank their opponent or shake hands
with them if it’s appropriate.
When playing a game, don’t change the rules or let your child win. Being a gracious loser is just as important as being a good
winner.
Praise your child for making positive choices about their actions and/or words, especially when there aren’t adults present.
Use the learner profile language when discussing home rules.

Día de camiseta universitaria y pantalón de mezclilla: Este viernes será día de camiseta universitaria y pantalón de mezclilla para todos
los escolares. Los escolares que deseen participar deben de traer un $1 para usar pantalones de mezclilla y $2 para usar camiseta
universitaria y pantalones de mezclilla.
Reunión VIP: Tenemos 2 reuniones más de VIP este año escolar. Por favor anote las fechas, el 28 de abril y el 12 de mayo. Todos los
padres que asistan a la reunión VIP recibirán un pase para su escolar para usar pantalón de mezclilla. En nuestra próxima reunión VIP, el
28 de abril, vamos hablar y planificar las prioridades para el próximo año escolar. Nos encantaría contar con su presencia!
Día de la Limonada: Esta primavera, todos los escolares del 3º, 4º, y 5º grado tendrán la oportunidad de participar en un programa que
ayuda a los escolares aprender las habilidades necesarias para iniciar su propio negocio. Los escolares trabajaran en grupo para crear un
plan de negocio de un puesto de limonada, presentaran su plan a un representante de Bank of America, y recibirá un préstamo para
iniciar su negocio. Luego los escolares venderán su limonada en el Día de la Limonada para pagar el préstamo, más las ganancias.

POGRAMA PYP (PROGRAMA DE AÑOS DE PRIMARIA): INFORMACION PARA PADRES
Perfil del Escolar de la Semana: PRINCIPIOS
Los escolares con principios tienen un sentido de justicia y son honestos con ellos mismos. Ellos entienden que a veces hay reglas y las siguen. Tienen una comprensión del
razonamiento moral.
¿Cómo pueden ayudar los padres a su escolar a desarrollar principios en casa?






Involucre a su hijo para decidir sobre las reglas de un juego o actividad y asegúrese que se mantenga en lo que decidió.
Anime a su hijo para jugar juegos que involucran equipos. Hable con su hijo de las cualidades que tiene un jugador de equipo. ¿Qué tipo de persona quieren en su
equipo?
Cuando su hijo gane un juego insista en que él o ella es un ganador de buenos modales. Pueden agradecer a su oponente o estrechar la mano si es apropiado.
Al jugar un juego, no cambie las reglas o deje que su hijo gane. Ser un buen perdedor es tan importante como ser un buen ganador.
Elogie a su niño para tomar decisiones positivas acerca de sus acciones y palabras, especialmente cuando no hay adultos presentes.
Utilice el lenguaje de Perfil del Escolar cuando se habla de las reglas de la casa.
