Society of St. Vincent de Paul
281.333.2509
Office Hours: Tuesday – Wednesday, 9:30 - 11:30 AM Thursday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
In the Gospel, Jesus teaches us that God is our “Father” and just as a parent’s love for their
children is unlimited, so is God’s love and care for us unlimited.
This week, as you give your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, know that you are
showing them that God loves them and that he is indeed their “Father.”
Month at a Glance: June 2016
During the month of June, 223 brothers and sisters in need were supplied with emergency food
from the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, and 35 families were helped with emergency rent and
utility support totaling $5,158.84. When Vincentians meet with clients and are able to provide this
vital support, each reminds the grateful client that it is through the generosity of the parish of St.
Paul the Apostle Church, the body of Christ that these blessings flow.

ATTENTION LADIES, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Readings & Mass Intentions ♦ Lecturas Y Intenciónes de Misa
We ask you to please blot your lipstick
before receiving the Precious Blood of
Christ. Our Purificators are being
stained by lipstick wiped off of the cups
and they cannot be reused once stained.
The
Purificators are generously donated by 2 parishioners
and are washed and ironed by a very small group of
very dedicated women. These women presoak, treat
lipstick stains, wash and iron anywhere from 30 to 40
Purificators per week. It is a tremendous job and could
be so much easier if the lipstick stains were not such
a problem. Please consider our request when you get
dressed for Mass.
(07/24/2016 – 07/30/2016)

¡SE NECESITAN PERSONAS QUE
VENGANAL SANTISIMO!
Martes, 12 PM (medio día)
¿Consideras una hora con
Nuestro Señor?
Favor de llamar o enviar mensaje a
Hortensia, 281.731.6539.

Please join us in prayer for our World Youth Day Pilgrims at 8:30 AM Mass daily.
And at home, please pray the following prayer daily:
St. James the Apostle, patron of pilgrim travelers…pray for them,
St. Kateri Tekakwitha, young faithful witness from our country. pray for them,
St. Thérèse of Lisieux, patroness of missionaries and advocate for youth…pray for them,
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, man of the beatitudes and patron of young adults….pray for them,
St. John Paul II, son of Poland and patron of World Youth Day…pray for them.
God our Father, bless those who travel on mission to Kraków in Poland, Land of Divine Mercy, to join the
universal Church for World Youth Day. Lord Jesus, open their eyes to see your face in all those they
encounter. Open their ears to hear your voice in those who are often ignored. Open their hearts that they
might be faithful disciples of mercy and truth. Holy Spirit, transform them. Empower them to give of
themselves to the poor; to welcome the lost; to forgive those who hurt them; to comfort those who suffer
and are marginalized. Through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, patroness of our
nation, may they be worthy witnesses of our faith, humble representatives of our country, and inspired
missionaries bringing peace, hope, and mercy into our communities. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults
Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…
Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.
Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living
“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the
faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a
diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have
learned along the way.
Do you want to be Catholic?
Make Mass More Meaningful
Then please join us at the weekly Inquiry session that takes
place every Sunday after the 9 AM Mass. The
group meets in the Conference Room from
about 10:15-11 AM. Contact Heidi at
[email protected] for information.
The great Bishop Fulton Sheen, while conducting a retreat
for teenagers, once said, “If you don’t get
anything out of Mass, it’s because you don’t
bring the right expectations to it.” The Mass is
not entertainment, he said. It is worship of the
God who made us and saves us. It is an
opportunity to praise God and thank Him for all He has done
for us.
Next Sunday’s Mass Themes
Next Sunday is the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time and in the
first reading (Ecclesiastes 1:2, 2:21-23) King
Solomon is looking back on his life at its end
and sees that much of what he accomplished
will pass to someone else who likely will undo
it. When read in connection with the Gospel
(Luke 12:13-21), this text underlines the transitory nature of
human wealth and accomplishment. This week’s readings
are pointing out that greed only blocks one from acquiring
what is really important, i.e., a deeper relationship with God.
Next Men’s ACTS Retreat
Registrations are being taken to attend the next men’s ACTS
retreat scheduled for Thursday, September 1, to Sunday,
September 4. Contact Bob Milmoe to get one: 409.795.7227.
Infertility Support Group
Loving Embrace is a Catholic support group for couples
affected by infertility. The group meets the 3rd Thursday of
every month. Further, the group works with couples who
want to pursue pregnancy while not going against what the
Church teaches. Contact Shannon Lassen at 832.978.6716
for information.
Confirmation for Adults
If you or someone you know is a baptized Catholic who has
received first Eucharist but has not been confirmed, please
contact Heidi Clark to make arrangements to complete your
sacraments of initiation: [email protected] or
281.333.3891, Ext. 328.

In-Parish Couples Retreat
Healing after Infant Loss
Make plans to attend this 1½-day parish-based event,

to each other. There is no large group discussion or open
sharing. Saturday goes from 8 AM-9 PM and includes a
lovely candlelight dinner. Sunday ends by 3 PM and includes
Mass. The retreat takes place at our parish
so participants can sleep at home and
simplify child care. Contact Heidi to
register: [email protected] or
281.333.3891, Ext. 328.
Parishioners Paul and Racheal Emig are helping lead a
healing retreat for those who’ve lost children through
miscarriage, stillbirth, and other forms of early infant loss. It
takes place August 13, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic
Church in Dripping Springs. The cost is $60 for individuals
and $95 for couples.

You are called to stand up for Life! To respect and defend the mystery of life always and
everywhere. Including lives of unborn babies, giving real help and encouragement to mothers in
difficult situations. You are called to work and pray against abortion. St. Pope John Paul II
