Please be sure to set appointments as late as possible in the afternoon to avoid interruption of instruction and testing. It is also very important that all students arrive on time everyday to school. Attendance is critical so that students don’t miss important instruction time that prepares them for all upcoming exams and to ensure they receive the credits they need to be promoted for next year. Reminder: Next Friday our campus will be closed for Good Friday. There will be no classes on that day, April 18, 2014. Classes will resume regular schedule on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 7:45 am. April 11, 2014 Message from our Academic Counselor: 1. HQ will be conducting a needs assessment on our campus in May. The document attached is the consent form. Please attach and send home with parent weekly. Below is some wording to include. English IDEA Public Schools is committed to students graduating from high school and experiencing success in their pursuit of a college education. On the road to college, students and families face obstacles and challenges that can, if not addressed, pose a threat to achieving the ultimate goal of a college degree. IDEA has committed to do whatever it takes to help students succeed and achieve college for all children. The first step in accomplishing this is learning more about our Team and Family. To accomplish this, we are preparing to launch The Communities Project on campuses. As part of this project, we will be conducting focus groups and interviews (for seniors only) to provide insight and clarity into social, emotional, and physical factors that may impact student success. Focus group questions will assess where students and families are now and where they want to be, with the goal of closing the gap between the two. 2. A second round of STAAR testing (6th -8th grades) is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd and Wednesday, April 23rd. Your son or daughter may feel anxious or excited about the exam, so please make sure they have enough rest and have a hearty breakfast. Testing will begin at 8:00am, so please be on time. Students are to leave backpacks and electronic devices at home on testing days. ALL TECHNOLOGY WILL BE COLLECTED AND LOCKED AWAY IN STORAGE UNTIL THE EXAM IS OVER. Students who finish exams before the end of the testing window will NOT be allowed to leave the room. Students must remain silent until ALL testers have completed the exam. EARLY DISMISSALS ARE NOT ALLOWED DURING TESTING!
