On the eve of his death, as a sign of your covenant, he washed the feet of his disciples and gave himself as food and drink. Give us life at this sacred banquet and joy in humble service, that, bound to Christ in all things, we may pass over from this world to your kingdom, where he lives with you now and always in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Cada vez que unstedes comen de este pan y beben de este cáliz, proclaman la muerte del Señor. Brothers and sisters: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AGRADECIMENTOS It is neither the norm nor good ritual practice to print texts proclaimed by ministers, for example, prayers and readings. They are printed in this edition, however, since faith sharing is a key element of the prayer and the additional printed texts may aid conversation.
