Introducing: Fr. Patrick Langan, L.C.
Fr. Patrick Langan, LC is a native of Dublin, Ireland, the oldest of five
siblings. He joined the Legion in 1975 and completed his studies of
classical humanities in Salamanca, Spain, and his studies of philosophy
and theology in Rome, Italy. Fr. Patrick did his apostolic internship in
Cozumel, Mexico from 1980-1983, and was Director of Oaklawn Academy
from 1985-1987. He was ordained to the priesthood by Pope John Paul II
in 1991 in St. Peter’s Basilica. Subsequently, he spent ten years working in
fundraising throughout the US and then eleven years in northern California
as the chaplain to Canyon Heights Academy in San Jose and Serra PreSchool in San Francisco. Before his arrival in Atlanta, he assisted at Our
Lady of Guadalupe parish in Phoenix, Arizona. He also spent three years
of field research with Fr. Owen Kearns for the publication of their recently
published The Quest for the Core of the Regnum Christi Charism.
Introducing: Fr. Jason Brooks, L.C.
Please remember all of our priests in your prayers. Fr. Jason grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from high
school, Fr. Jason attended Ripon College in Wisconsin, where he studied
biology and played defensive end on the football team. He had plans to
teach biology and to be a high school football coach. He always thought
that he would get married and have a family. However, thanks to the
witness of a Catholic classmate in college and the grace of God, Fr. Jason
heard God call him to the priesthood during his sophomore year. After
discerning that he was called to be a missionary, Fr. Jason joined the
Legionaries of Christ in 1994, at the end of his junior year of college. He
was ordained at the Church of St. Mary Major in Rome on November 25,
2004. After ordination, Fr. Jason served as the chaplain of the Lumen
Institute in Chicago until 2011. Then, he moved to Atlanta, where he
served as the chaplain at Holy Spirit Preparatory School for two years.
Last summer, Fr. Jason’s parents built a home in Flowery Branch and now
attend Prince of Peace parish. His younger sister, Tracy, is married with
two boys and lives in Connecticut. Fr. Jason is a great fan of Padre Pio
and St. Thérèse of Lisieux. He also is devoted to Divine Mercy and Our
Lady of Fatima.

Meals for Priests Ministry Potluck Dinner – Oct. 30 Following 6pm Mass for the intention of Meals for Priests Ministry on Oct 30th, there will be a Pot Luck dinner for members, their families and our priests. Come enjoy dinner and meet other members. Bring a favorite food to share. Drinks provided. Door prizes. Anyone interested in serving in our ministry is invited. RSVP by Oct 20th to Mary Perott, [email protected] or call 770-‐844-‐8236. Holy Land Olive Wood Sales Returns for a Second Year Senior Saints Luncheon If you are over 55, we warmly invite you to join with us for our monthly lunch with other seniors in the Social Hall on Friday, October 10th, at 11:30 am. Cost will be $8/person, and we are looking forward to great fellowship and some good “home cooking”! We plan to play a little Bingo after lunch so make plans to stay and visit. Please RSVP to Tom and Judy Dorn at [email protected] or 404-‐431-‐8550. Café 107 this Sunday, October 5th, Social Hall Come one, come all for a great brunch anytime from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. This month the festivities will be sponsored by St. Brendan’s Youth Faith Formation and the Knights of Columbus. Café 107 will open once per month with menu items such as fresh hotcakes, French toast, hash browns, sausage, biscuits & gravy, fruit, hamburgers, hotdogs, Tamales, Tostadas, rice, beans, drinks and desserts. Cost: 6 yr. old & up -‐ $7/person; family plan -‐ $30 breakfast or lunch; 5 & under and over 99 -‐ FREE! After all Masses on the weekend of October 18th and 19th, St. Brendan’s will host Olive Wood sales in the Narthex. Proceeds from items sold will go directly to the benefit of Christians living in the Holy Land. With increased unrest in the area unemployment has risen to almost 75%. Some Christian Palestinians have responded by fleeing the Holy Land. The absence of a living Christian community in this area is very dangerous for the future of holy sites such as the Church of the Nativity and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This sale is to help strengthen the Christian presence in the city of Bethlehem and the surrounding areas. All proceeds will go directly to the Christian artisans who create the hand carved pieces. Buying one piece will help prevent Christians from leaving the Holy Land. For your convenience, we now have a
cold drink vending machine in the
Social Hall. Canned drinks are
available for $1.00 each, and we will try
to provide a variety of choices for
everyone. All proceeds will benefit the
Building Fund. Thank you for your
support.
In September, Café 107 raised over $600 which will go toward much-‐needed kitchen equipment. Our very first family to visit Café 107 was the Morton family. Blood Drive The Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, October 12th, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Social Hall. We are sincerely grateful to those who are able to donate blood in support of patients who need blood. You can sign up at the Information Desk or walk ins are welcome. Thank you! After all bequests have been made in a will I have found in working with estates that
there is always something left no one wants. Did you know you can have the remainder
of your tangible estate sold and the proceeds go to the parish? That is why there are
so many estate sales. There are always things children and relatives do not need or
want. This is an easy change to make. If you would like more information on this
method of giving please contact Diane Duquette, Director of Gift Planning at the
Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, 404-497-9440 or [email protected]. Visit our
website: www.cfnga.org for information about creating a Catholic legacy.
Public Square Rosary Rally Saturday, Oct. 11, at 12:00 noon in front of the Cumming City Hall Building on 100 Main Street
Contact: [email protected] or 903-285-0548
This event is sponsored by America Needs Fatima and will be one of over 12,000 rallies
that will take place all across the United States on that day. Please join with other
Catholics in offering reparation for sins and to pray for the conversion of our country.
All are welcome and this is a great family prayer opportunity!
Imagine yourself pausing in front of a design of great
beauty. Your soul quiets and is filled with wonder and awe.
If art, created by man, can evoke such a response within us, how much more is
the same wonder, reverence and respect due to each person we encounter,
who was handcrafted by the very God who spoke the world into being?
Now think of an artist stepping back from a great work of art and admiring his
or her creation.
When God created each of us, He did so with precision and purpose, and He
looks on each of us with love that cannot be outdone in intensity or tenderness.
Moreover, the Lord invites each of us to behold ourselves and each other with
the same wonder and awe.
No matter how the world might view us or others, let us treat each person as
the masterpiece that he or she is.
“Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the
poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to
live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.”
Pope Francis’ Day for Life Greeting

Prayer Vigils, now through November 2. Contact Mary Hayes at [email protected] to receive information about

Pray to End Abortion
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life
than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life
movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!
Fr. Matthew, Members of St. Brendan's Knights of Columbus and Kelle
Russo are on site at Whispering Hope to see the new, high-tech Ultrasound
Machine. This machine was made possible by the generous donations of
our parish through our Baby Bottle Program with those funds matched by the

Estoy dispuesto a hacer mi parte
para acabar el aborto.
Hoy me comprometo a nunca estar
en silencio, nunca ser pasivo, para
que nunca se olviden de los no nacidos.
Me comprometo a estar activo en el
movimiento Pro-Vida y nunca dejar
de defender la vida hasta que todos
mis hermanos y hermanas están
protegidos, y nuestra nación vuelve
a ser una nación con libertad y justicia, no sólo para algunos, sino para todos.
A través de Cristo nuestro Señor.
¡Amén!
