HaitiReach Update:
Basic Necessities Purchased With St. Brendan Donations
Food and supplies are being purchased as a result of the generous contributions given by St. Brendan’s
parishioners over the past few weeks. With the help of Fr. Meres, pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church in
Bassin-Zim, we estimate we will help between 100 and 150 families. Items purchased in bulk so far include: rice, beans, cooking oil, sardines, spaghetti and soap. Near future plans include the purchase of
chickens as a source of fresh eggs.
We are in frequent contact with Father Meres regarding how to move forward with the resources at
hand and the needs of the community. Father assures us that the love and support of our parish have
helped sustain the people of Our Lady of Fatima Church as they work to rebuild their community.
Donations are still welcome

Intentions for November
Universal: Countries Receiving
Refugees. That the countries which take
in a great number of displaced persons
and refugees may find support for
their efforts which show solidarity.
Evangelization: Collaboration of
Priests and Laity. That within parishes,
priests and lay people collaborate in
service to the community without
giving in to the temptation of
discouragement.
Giving Tree Program
Through the Giving Tree program, our parish works to ensure that
each child will be able to enjoy the simple fun of Christmas and participate in our Advent and Christmas liturgies and parish life events. The
program is designed to fulfill Christmas wishes of children and senior
citizens in our parish community.
The Salve Regina, Latin for
Hail Queen, is a Marian hymn and
one of four antiphons sung at different seasons within the Christian liturgical calendar of the
Catholic Church.
The work was composed during the Middle Ages. Though traditionally ascribed to the eleventh-century German monk
Hermann of Reichenau, it is regarded as anonymous by most
musicologists.
Salve Regina
Hail, holy Queen,
Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness
and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this
valley of tears.
Turn then,
most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of
thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet
Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us O holy Mother
of God,
R. that we may be made worthy of
the promises of Christ.
How it works: The Giving Tree program decorated trees will go
up in the narthex later this month. We invite all families to prayerfully
consider participating in the program by taking an ornament from the
tree and helping serve someone else this Christmas season. No gift
“ornament” should exceed $40. We ask that you provide only one gift
or toy per child. No electronics, no large toys, no gift cards, no bicycles. In addition there are ornaments that will request food items for
the reception of the distribution of gifts.
Sponsorship Families: Sponsorship families cover the wishlist
for the children of an entire Giving Tree family. The size of the families vary; sponsorship families can express a preference as to the size
of the family they wish to sponsor. Individual gifts should not exceed
$40. St. Brendan’s provides the wishlist(s) for the family. The sponsorship family has the option to deliver the Christmas gifts directly or
they can be delivered by St. Brendan’s. All gifts must be delivered by
Saturday, December 17.
Registrations: Please contact the parish office at 770-205-7969 x
41 if you know of a family in financial need.
Volunteers Needed: Help is needed to distribute ornaments and
collect, wrap, organize, and distribute gifts. Contact Kelle Russo at
[email protected] to volunteer.

Corner
“As generous distributors of God’s manifold grace, put
your gift at the service of one another.” Peter 4:10
We have many material blessings, but what
about the spiritual blessings and continuing God’s
work through the work of our Catholic Church?
Many of us have been blessed by the Catholic
Church in many ways, including Catholic education,
our local parish church, hospitals, archdiocesan or
diocesan ministries, social services, etc. A host of
other services to the poor, sick, homeless and others are provided on a regular basis to those in need.
Remembering the Church in your will is one
way of demonstrating that you have been a good
steward and plan to share your blessings which
will, in turn, provide the programs and ministries
which will pass on the Catholic faith to the next
generations of Catholics who will follow. For more
information, contact Dennis Mallon at
