Lighthouse Catholic Media
The Lighthouse CD of the week is: The Gift of Sexuality by Father Thomas Loya. Father Loya presents a
Catholic vision of human sexuality as he offers on
overview of the Theology of the Body, Pope John Paul
II’s revolutionary series for general audiences. This
profound yet practical talk reveals the true meaning of
our bodies in relationship to God and to one another
so that we can have a better understanding of sexuality and pure love. This is a message that is badly
needed in our society today.

Growing in Faith
Programs & Activities to help all of us to
grow in our faith, from the young to seniors
One activity the whole parish can participate in to
help us grow in our faith is through a reflection on the
Scripture readings from our Sunday Mass during the
week. Each week, a “Question of the Week” is in the
bulletin and online. Persons are encouraged to take
time during the week to answer the questions and
share the answers within one’s family and at any parish meetings which occur during the week.
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Week of October 21
Making God a priority in your life
Breaking Open the Word
Suggested text for faith sharing:
Today’s Gospel
Step One: Listen to the Word. When you hear Jesus’ teaching today, what words or phrases strike
you? What image from Mark’s Gospel lingers in your
memory?
Step Two: Look into Your Life
Question for Children: Name some ways that you can
serve others.
Question for Youth: Jesus changed the way we think
of leadership to be someone who serves others. How
are you a servant leader in school, your family, the
parish and/or your community?
Question for Adults: What are some times in your
own life when you have the chance to be last instead
of first?

Spiritual Book Club Meets Nov. 6
The Spiritual Book Club will meet Tuesday, Nov. 6
at 7 p.m. in the Mother Teresa Room to discuss JesusShock by Peter Kreeft, which investigates the reception Jesus received in His lifetime
and continuously to the present
time, not only from His enemies,
but from His friends, a reception
of shock, astonishment, even disgust. “His claim to be God is the
sword that divides all of time and
history into two halves, B.C. and
A.D., and divides the population of
the world into two halves, like a
junction on a train track. And both
tracks go to eternity.”
As Pope Benedict XVI writes in his apostolic letter
Porta Fidei: “During this time we will need to keep
our gaze fixed upon Jesus Christ, the ‘pioneer and
perfecter of our faith’ (Heb 12:2).”
December reading: The Fulfillment of All Desire, by

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA)
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
Our lives sometimes go through seasons of change;
of closeness to God and distance from him. Yet God
the Father’s love is steadfast and ever-present to
those who seek with a
sincere heart, no matter
what sins or situations
have caused separation. If you have thought about becoming Catholic and beginning a new “season” in your
life, contact Kelli Pereira. RCIA Director, in the
Church Office at 359-2700 or email: [email protected]
Communion to the Homebound
If you or someone you know is ill, in the hospital,
homebound or not able to get to Mass because of circumstances beyond their control, call the church office at 359-2700 so a Homebound Communion Minister may bring them Communion.
