Notas del Párroco
From October 15, 2014 to October 15,
2015 we will be celebrating the 5th
centenary of the birth of St. Teresa of
Avila. Pope Francis has called this year
a Teresian year. St. Teresa was a Carmelite nun
who with her tireless work renewed the life of
Carmel showing the entire world that love can
change the course of history. She left behind a life
of conformity and set her life to the ultimate
experience of love for Jesus through her brothers
and sisters. We, as the parish community of Our
Lady of Mount Carmel, should learn more about
this important saint. She was a saint who knew
how to understand and experience the love of God
by writing more than 7 books, which lead her to
become a doctor of the Church.

del 2015 Celebramos el V centenario del
nacimiento de St. Teresa de Ávila.
Denominado por el Papa Francisco como el año
Teresiano. Teresa era un Santa Carmelita que con su
trabajo incansable renovó el Carmelo demostrando al
mundo que el amor puede cambiar el rumbo de la
historia. Saliendo del conformismo y configurando su
vida a la experiencia máxima del amor a Jesús por
medio de los hermanos. Para nosotros como comunidad
de Monte Carmelo es de suma importancia conocer más
sobre ella. Es una de las Santas de la Iglesia que ha
sabido muy bien interpretar y vivir la experiencia de
Dios escribiendo más de 7 libros, lo que la lleva a ser
doctora de la Iglesia.
I would like to let you know that on October 15th I
will be visiting the Spanish city of Avila and that I
will be concelebrating the Eucharist which marks
the beginning of this Teresian year. Our Lady of
Mount Carmel Parish community in Houston, TX
will receive a very special blessing conferred by
the Bishop of Avila. This Teresian year is an
important moment to receive such a blessing and
to show our interest in getting to know Saint
Teresa better. I want you to reflect upon St.
Teresa´s words. “Let nothing disturb you, Let
nothing frighten you, all things are passing away:
God never changes. Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone
suffices.”
Concretamente les quiero comentar que el dia 15
de octubre estare presente en la ciudad de Avila
concelebrando en la eucaristía del inicio del año
teresiano. En esta eucaristía la Parroquia de Nuestra
Señora del Monte Carmelo de Houston, Tx recibiremos
una bendición especial por el obispo de Avila. Este año
teresiano es un momento importante para que en
oración recibamos esta bendición y tengamos el interés
de conocer a una Santa que es muy nuestra. Les invito a
meditar con las palabra de St. Teresa. “Nada te turbe,
Nada te espante, todo se pasa. Dios no se muda, la
paciencia todo lo alcanza, quien a Dios tiene nada le
falta. Solo Dios basta.”

blood? Medical technology has provided many lifesaving discoveries over the years, but there is still no
substitute for blood. In a medical emergency, often
the most important element is the availability of
blood. Blood donations can help a variety of
individuals: trauma victims, surgery patients,
premature babies, individuals with anemia, cancer
patients and many more. Every donation can help
save as many as three lives. Thank you!

Noticias de la Escuela OLMC
The Blessing of the Pets, in commemoration of the
Feast of St. Francis, took place on Thurs., Oct 2nd
with much enthusiasm! The children we very
much excited about bringing their pets to have
them blessed by Fr. Cobos. If the children did not
have or were unable to bring a live animal, they
were given the option of bringing a stuffed
pet. The event was coordinated by 4th Grade
Teacher - Mrs. Pepito - where it was comprised of
music, song, and scripture reading. It was a great
experience had by all!
¡La Bendición de Los Mascotas, en conmemoración de la
Celebración de San Francisco de Asís, se llevó a cabo el
Jueves, el 2 de octubre con mucho entusiasmo! Los niños
estaban muy emocionados de haber traído sus mascotas y
tenerlos bendecidos por parte de Padre Cobos. Si los niños
no tenían o podían traer un animal en vivo, tenían la opción
de traer un peluche mascota. El evento fue coordinado por
parte de la Señora Pepito – maestra de 4 grado – donde
incluyó música, cantos, y lecturas de las escrituras. ¡Fue una
gran experiencia para todos!
