It is a sight to behold as the Castle of Kirchstetten, aka “the smallest opera house
in Austria” transforms into the Castle of Count Almaviva. This is a place to
experience a direct interaction between audience and singers as only 170 tickets
are available per evening. This unique way of bringing “big operas” close up and
personal culminates in an unforgettable evening of opera.

One of the most sumptuous works of the Classic Vienna period, Ludwig v.
Beethoven’s “Ode to joy“ is the centerpiece of this concert. The Symphony No.
9 is surrounded by two other masterpieces by Beethoven: the “Egmont
ouverture“ and the Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 2.

be regarded as the cutting point between folk music and concert music. As
opposed to the “courtly“ sounds of strings, woodwinds have always conveyed a
