FEBRUARY 1, 2015
MUCH MORE THAN A PROPHET The liturgical calendar helps us discover Jesus, year after year, Sunday after Sunday, day after day. It doesn’t matter how many times we have heard or read the Gospel. There is always something new to discover. Today and in the coming weeks, we begin to discover another aspect of how Jesus carried out his mission to proclaim and make the kingdom of God a reality. In today’s Gospel, we are witnesses to one of the many exorcisms Jesus realized. It is no coincidence that before the narrations of miracle healings of Jesus, we hear this story of the possessed. This takes place in the context of his public teachings. Jesus is, as indicated by the first apostles, a teacher, whose words come to life in his actions. Jesus, who has come to save the world, makes his mission clear when he expels the demon from the man that approached him seeking help. Jesus has come to defeat evil, personified in the demon. The exorcism in today’s gospel makes it very clear that Jesus is truly the Messiah, not simply a good prophet or miracle‐worker. Jesus is Emmanuel, “God with us,” and the proof of that is that he is the one who conquers evil, sin and even death. Parish Office

all liturgical ministers so that we can come to an
agreement on the specifics of our ministries. This
includes ministers of all masses and all cultures
and languages. This is, a mandatory meeting.

Planificación Litúrgica
El calendario litúrgico nos ayuda a descubrir a Jesús, año tras año, domingo tras domingo y día tras día. No importa cuantas veces hayamos escuchado o leído el Evangelio. Siempre hay algo nuevo por descubrir. Hoy y en las semanas que vienen, empezamos a descubrir otro aspecto de cómo Jesús lleva a cabo su misión de proclamar y hacer realidad el reino de Dios. El Padre Miguel extiende la
invitación a todo mundo a participar
en la planificación litúrgica de la
Curesma y Pascua.
En el Evangelio de hoy somos testigos de uno de los muchos exorcismos que realizo Jesús. No es una coincidencia que, antes de encontrarnos con las narraciones de las curaciones milagrosas de Jesús, escuchemos esta historia del endemoniado. Este episodio tiene lugar en el contexto de sus enseñanzas públicas. Jesús es, como lo habían indicado los primeros apóstoles en ser llamados, un maestro, cuyas palabras toman vida en sus acciones. Jesús quien ha venido para salvar al mundo, deja clara su misión cuando expulsa al demonio de aquel hombre que se le acerco pidiendo ayuda. Jesús ha venido para derrotar al mal, personificado en el demonio. El exorcismo del Evangelio de hoy nos deja claro que Jesús es en verdad el Mesías, y no un simple milagrero o un gran profeta. Jesús si es Emmanuel, “Dios con nosotros,” y prueba de ello es quien el es quien conquiste el mal, el pecado e incluso la muerte. CUANDO:

1. Trong “một ngày ở Caphanaum” được coi như ngày
“mẫu”, Đức Giêsu giảng dạy và trừ quỷ: Thiên Chúa đang
biểu lộ quyền năng để giải phóng con người. Các tông đồ cũng
có mặt: những môn đệ tương lai sẽ nối tiếp Đức Giêsu giảng
dạy và trừ quỷ.
2. Phong thái và các hành vi của chúng ta có cho thấy rằng
chúng ta đang được hướng dẫn bên trong bởi uy quyền của
Đức Giêsu chăng? Phải chăng chúng ta chỉ rút từ giáo huấn
của Người ra những gì chúng ta thích, hay là quả thạt, chúng ta
đang liên kết với Người bằng cách trung thành bước theo
Người?
3. Chúng ta biết là có ma quỷ. Tuy nhiên, không nên nghĩ nó
giống như một con quái vật. Đúng hơn nó là sức mạnh làm
cho con người chúng ta hành động không đúng với nhân tính
chúng ta nữa. Ta chỉ thắng được tà thần không phải bằng
một thỏa hiệp và nhượng bộ, nhưng nhờ thẳng thắn
chiến đấu chống lại nó nhân danh Triều Đại Thiên Chúa: nó đã
và sẽ phản ứng thô bạo, nó kháng cự, la hét. Chúng ta có tin
tưởng mạnh mẽ và sống động vào Đức Giêsu chăng? Chúng ta
có xác tín rằng Người vượt lên trên tất cả các sức mạnh đối
kháng, và nếu kết hợp với Người, chúng ta có thể đánh bại sự
dữ và các sức mạnh thù nghịch?
