Dear families,
Thanks to everyone who came to the garden work day on Saturday!
This is a short week and we are only a few weeks away from the end of
Trimester 2 (Feb 8). Report Cards and conferences to follow later in February.
A reminder that students can apply for Free Muni Passes—see Ivy for
applications.
The SFCS Library would like to THANK all the parents who responded to the
plea for volunteer help with shelving books. It makes a huge difference to the
library program when parents support the library. Thank you!
The Pancake Breakfast is coming! Saturday, February 9, 9-11:30 at the school
with the usual FABULOUS all you can eat breakfast plus jumpy, chocolate sales
for Valentines Day, and live music !!! Email [email protected] if you can
volunteer. We will also be raffling off an IPad! Buy tickets from Ivy in the
office! ($5 a ticket or $20 for 5 tickets).
"Brehmer's Candies is partnering with us for a yummy fundraiser. Order
Valentines' chocolates and SFC will get part of the proceeds. You can support a
local business and SFC with delicious handmade chocolates! Fill out the attached
order form and return to Ivy by January 28th. Payment and pickup will be at
the Pancake Breakfast on February 9th."
On Sunday, January 27, from 2-4pm there will be a Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Playground Meet-up at Balboa Playground, on San Jose Ave, between Ocean Ave
and Santa Ynez Ave in Mission Terrace. If it is raining, we will meet up on
Saturday, February 2nd instead—same time, same place.
PAC is beginning to organize our annual Auction, complete with a Pie-tasting
competition this year! It will be held on Sunday, April 14 at the Verdi Club.
PAC is looking for volunteers to call donors, solicit donations, stuff envelopes,
and work the event. Email Corinne Benson([email protected]) if you
can help.

STRONG INDIVIDUALS
K/1: Students are writing about small moments
and working on informative writing. In Reader’s
WKSP students are working on meta-cognition and
self-awareness while reading: “Talking to yourself
and to your buddy while reading.”
2/3: Students are finishing their project--taking
action to help endangered animals. They are
continuing their fiction, folk, and fairy tale unit,
and working on complex addition and subtraction
number stories in math.
4/5: Students are reading expository non-fiction,
working on summary writing, learning map skills,
and studying pre-colonial America.
5/6: Students are continuing their Civil War unit
and their Historical Narrative unit, learning about
proportional relationships, and continuing to
learn about puberty.
7/8: Students are writing reports, continuing
their 2nd math portfolio piece (7th: Solving
Equations; 8th: Solving Systems of Equations), and
learning about the rise of the Nazis and World
War II.
Task Force: Middle School task force is planning a
dance!

Estimadas familias,
¡Gracias a todos que vinieron al día de trabajar en el jardín el sábado!
Esta una semana corta y faltan pocas semanas hasta el fin del trimestre (8 de
febrero). Los reportes de las calificaciones y las conferencias seguirán mas
tarde en febrero. Recuerde que los alumnos puedan aplicar para el pase
gratuito de Muni - hable con Ivy para la solicitud.
La biblioteca de la escuela SFC quiere AGRADECER a todos los padres de familia
que respondieron a la pedida para ayuda con guardar los libros en la estantería.
Hace un gran diferencia al programa de la biblioteca cuando los padres nos
ayuden. ¡Gracias!
¡Viene el Desayuno con Panqueques! Sábado 9 de febrero, 9-11:30 en al escuela
con el desayuno fabuloso de todo-que-puede comer, ¡con la casa brincadora,
chocolate de venta para el Día de San Valentín, y música en vivo! Mande un
Email a [email protected] si puede ayudar. ¡También vamos a rifar un IPad!
¡Compre boletos de Ivy en la oficina! ($5 por un boleto ó $20 por 5 boletos).
“Brehmer's Candies” está ayudando al esfuerzo: haga un orden de chocolates
para el Día de San Valentín y la escuela SFC recibirá una donación. ¡Puede
apoyar a un negocio local y a la escuela SFC con chocolates deliciosos hecho a
mano! Llene el formulario y devuélvelo a Ivy no mas tardar que el 28 de enero.
Puede pagar y recoger el orden en el desayuno con panqueques el 9 de febrero.
En domingo 27 de enero de 2-4pm habrá un encuentro de recreo para Kinder y
primer grado en el parque Balboa Playground, en San Jose Ave., entre Ocean
Ave y Santa Ynez Ave en Mission Terrace. Si haga la lluvia vamos a reunir el
sábado 2 de febrero - el mismo lugar y hora.
El Comité de Acción de Padres (PAC) está empezando a organizar nuestra
subasta anual, ¡que este año incluye una competición de tartas! Se llevará acabo
el domingo, 14 de abril en el Verdi Club. PAC busque voluntarios para hacer
llamadas para donaciones, preparar sobres para mandar correo, y trabajar en el
evento. Email a Corinne Benson ([email protected]) si pueda ayudar.

INDIVIDUOS FUERTES
K/1: Los alumnos están escribiendo sobre momentos
pequeños y trabajando en la escritura informativa. En
el taller de lectura los alumnos están trabajando en la
meta-cognición y conciencia de si mismo mientras
leyendo: “Hablar a si mismo y a su amigo mientras
leer.”
2/3: Los alumnos están terminando el proyecto tomando acción para ayudar a los animales en peligro.
Siguen con una unidad de ficción, los cuentos
tradicionales y cuentos de hadas, y trabajando con
problemas de historias complejos de adición y
sustracción en las matemáticas.
4/5: Los alumnos están leyendo no ficción declarativa,
trabajando en la lectura sumaria, aprendiendo
habilidades de los mapas, y estudiando América precolonial.
5/6: Los alumnos siguen con su unidad sobre la Guerra
Civil y la narración histórica, aprendiendo sobre las
relaciones proporcionales, y siguen aprendiendo sobre
la pubertad.
7/8: Los alumnos están escribiendo reportes, siguen
con el segundo portafolio para las matemáticas (7°
grado: resolviendo ecuaciones, 8° grado: resolviendo
sistemas de ecuaciones), y aprendiendo sobre el
ascenso de los Nazis y la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

日）。成績表和會議將於二月稍後舉行。在此提醒學生可以申請免

幼稚園／一年級：學生在寫一些小時候的
習作，和做資訊性寫作。在 Reader 的
WKSP 學生在做後設認知和自我認識同時
閱讀的課程。「在閱讀時和自己及你的好
友交談。」
三藩市社區學校圖書館感謝所有回應義務協助將書本上架請求的家
長。當家長都支持圖書館的時候，可以做出重大的不同。謝謝大
家！
二／三年級：學生在完成他們的專案──
採取行動幫助瀕危的動物。他們繼續做小
說、民俗和童話的單元，並在數學中學習
複習的加減數。
煎薄餅早餐會即將到來！那是二月九日星期六上午九時至十一時卅
分，在學校舉行，包括任吃薄餅，和跳彈床，情人節巧力克出售，
和現場音樂！如你可以義務幫忙，請發電郵到 [email protected]。
