ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY
ADORATION AWARENESS
“… If you knew the gift of God."
– John 4:10
"Without
prolonged moments of adoration, of prayerful
encounter with the word, of sincere conversation with the
Lord, our work easily becomes meaningless; we lose
energy as a result of weariness and difficulties, and our
fervor dies out. The Church urgently needs the deep
breath of prayer, and to my great joy groups devoted to
prayer and intercession, the prayerful reading of God’s
word and the perpetual adoration of the Eucharist are
growing at every level of ecclesial life."
- Pope Francis - "Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy Of The
Gospel)" Apostolic Letter
We will be meeting at the Tomball Community Center,
221 Market Street for our meeting on Tuesday,
October 4, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. For more information

Military Corner
We want to update our "Military Corner" board.
The next St. Anne concert will be held on Friday,

music ministers and a patriotic theme. While last
year’s music ministers’ concert focused on all the
choirs at St. Anne, this year it will focus on solos,
duets and small ensembles by various St. Anne music
ministers. As always, the concert will not cost
anything, only a freewill offering will be taken. Hope
you are able to come to the next concert!

Are you interested in singing with the choir for
Christmas, but can’t make it to rehearsals year-round?

AROUND THE ARCHDIOCESE
26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Stewardship Awareness Sunday)
September 25
That our eyes may be open to the needs around us and our
hands and hearts may be open to sharing our gifts to make
this world a better place for all of us. “My child, remember
that you received what was good during your lifetime while
Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is
comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover,
between us and you a great chasm is established...”
Luke16:25-26.
When God created the world He declared that it was good
and He gave it to all mankind for us to enjoy. However, over
the years we have created a chasm between those who have
great gifts and those who do not. In today’s Gospel we see
that with our own generosity we must bridge that gap
between those who have much and those who have little or
we may find ourselves on the wrong side of the chasm in the
next life.

AROUND THE ARCHDIOCESE
St. Vincent de Paul’s Feast Day, September 27
Vincent de Paul was born in 1581, in a remote village in
France. The nation was torn apart by religious and civil
strife, with many of its people living in poverty and
destitution. Vincent was born into a poor family, but he
showed piety and intellectual ability as a boy. By hard
work and sacrifice he achieved the priesthood and a
degree in theology at the unusually young age of twenty.
Returning to Paris, Vincent became an itinerant pastor.
Throughout his life, Vincent was to pursue the same
policy; his heart was with the poor, and with the
alleviation of their sufferings. In order to achieve this, he
saw that he must have help and protection of the rich and
powerful, and this he was not slow to seek. In the midst
of his work, St Vincent de Paul became friends with St
Frances de Sales and St Jeanne de Chantal, and was
chaplain to the Visitation nuns in Paris. When Jansenism
(the heresy of predestination) arose in France, Vincent
became its most vigorous opponent and was largely
responsible for its defeat.
In 1633, with the help of St Louise Marillac, he founded
the Daughters of Charity, dedicated to work among the
poor. Twenty-five years later, in 1658, he completed the
rules for his congregations. With the death of St Louise
Marillac in 1660, he realized that his work was over. He
died on September 27, 1660, and his body lies at the
motherhouse of his congregation in Paris.
Few saints have ever been so loved as he; few have so
perfectly filled their whole lives with Christ's own love
for all mankind, with Christ's compassion for the
multitude.
Let the Games Begin:
That might be a good slogan for the Olympics, but not for
a marriage!
The Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend shows
couples how they can be straightforward and honest in
their communication, thus building a foundation for the
kind of trust and love every marriage deserves. The next
two scheduled weekends this year will be Oct. 14 to16
and Nov. 4 to 6. Find out more or at
www.houstonme.org or call 713-482-1791.

Galveston-Houston seeks reliable and faithful

commit to facilitate at least four workshops per year and
agree to present workshops at various parishes or
schools within the Archdiocese. If you have any
questions regarding the Safe Environment Program or
how to request a facilitator application, please contact
Isabel Guerra, Archdiocesan Safe Environment

forma comunitaria.
