Down Hole Discharge Valve IT Mod.: DH-DV is a product developed for Electro Submersible
Pumps (ESP) production completions.
Model IT - DH-DV is a evolved design of our old models IT - Back Flow Valve versions with flap
type and concentric closing plug type, both used in the near past to control the fluid fall over the ESP.
New requirements, new applications, new challenges for ESP completions, as well to protect them as
to improve the performance and versatility of it, move our Design Team to develop this innovative
tool. This product is basically a “back flow valve” plus a “discharge valve”, both working together
makes it able to evacuate fluid from tubing to annulus and even permit fluid to come in from annulus
to tubing.
Description:
Down Hole Discharge Valve, is a compact design, which Protect the ESP
of fluid fall, which produce high stress on ESP assembly shafts, plugging of
the pump due to sand or debris, when the ESP is been turned off.
This product come to supply a great solutions for those remote wells where
the workover cost compared with the ESP prices, justify for a while to left a
ESP assembly installed in the production string as a buck up to be quickly
turned on when one of the primary ESP overcome it run life.
Features:
•
No additional energy is required to operate any of the 3 optional fluid
paths.
•
IT - DH-DV is a reliable product. The mechanism is hydraulically
balanced, It means that flow selector mechanism, as well to produce
as to communicate the tubing path with the annulus, works with a
small amount of the existing energy of the production system.

Circulations Areas or TFA of the IT - DH-DV , as well during
Production as Discharge Modes, are bigger than ESP and tubing I.D.
area
•
IT - DH-DV is a spring less design, do not use any type of spring
which give a plus in terms of longer and reliable operations time,
without any risk of failure due to spring stress, spring corrosion, or
spring trap.
•
Due to IT - DH-DV is hydraulically actuated, the effective operations of
the closing mechanisms, for the three path, (inside the tubing, tubing
to annulus, or vice versa), do not depend of a spring force.
•
This design was evaluated and approves the IT – VAP (IT Vibrations Analysis Protocol) witch give to Customers a plus of
safety about leaks, disassembly and malfunction during operations.
•
IT - DH-DV can by manufactured with same or higher quality material
of the tubing. It is also supplied with the same tubing threads used for
well production completion.
•
No O-Rings type seals are used to assure the seal of the flow selector
in any of the three paths. (Production mode, Discharge mode or
getting fluid from annulus to tubing when it is installed in a capsule for
dual or redundant ESP completion designs.

During operations never happens that fluid paths are open at the same time. The internal mechanism
always closes at least, one fluid path.
•
Fluid path were tested ad approves erosion test up to 6,0 BPM (bbl/min.) during 6 hours using a fluid
with 3% of sand sieve 20 – 40.
